Who is a reviewing instructor and how to become one

Daniil, you are a reviewing instructor on a music management course. Please share the main responsibilities and functions of a specialist in this position?

A reviewing instructor is an expert in their professional field, possessing significant experience and the necessary skills. Their task is not only to evaluate students' practical assignments but also to assist in the learning process. The instructor clarifies complex points in the course materials, provides useful resources, and supports students on a psychological level. This is an important role, contributing to a deeper understanding of the subject and improving the level of students' knowledge.

Each person requires individual attention and an approach. Considering that students have different backgrounds, it is important to take this into account. Age, education level, previous work experience, and learning speed all play a significant role in the learning process. A personalized approach helps optimize learning and promotes more effective learning. A marking instructor must possess a number of key skills and qualities to effectively support students. First, they must have in-depth knowledge of their subject area to provide students with relevant and accurate information. Second, active listening skills are essential to understand students' needs and difficulties. This allows the instructor to adapt their teaching methods and provide constructive feedback. Furthermore, a marking instructor must be able to create a positive and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and sharing their thoughts. Empathy and patience also play a crucial role in working with students of varying ability levels. Finally, organizational and time management skills are essential to effectively plan lessons and monitor student progress. These qualities will help teachers not only support students but also inspire them to further their learning and development.

The answer to the question about the role of a teacher is hidden in the very name of this profession – to teach. Teaching involves analyzing a student's learning experience from the outside and quickly diagnosing problems that may arise during the learning process. It is important to identify what exactly is causing difficulties and misunderstandings. After this, it is necessary to explain the material clearly so that the student has a holistic picture and can fill in any gaps in their knowledge. Effective teaching requires the ability to convey information in a way that each student can assimilate and apply it in practice.

You noted that the teacher conducting the assessment must have experience relevant to the subjects taught. Please share your experience in music and tell us how it relates to your teaching activities.

I began my musical journey in 1997. At that time, as a high school student, I worked as a club DJ. In the early 2000s, I founded the first turntablist DJ group in Russia, True Flavas Band. My experience in club culture and desire to develop the DJing genre became the foundation for a unique musical project that has inspired many musicians and DJs across the country. We create unique, original music in real time, using scratch techniques, vinyl records, and a mixer with a turntable. Over time, frequent jam sessions with jazz musicians led to a new sound, in which we began actively using instruments in our tracks. We integrate guitars, drums, synthesizers, and other instruments into our work, enriching our musical sound. We continue to develop in this direction and now release our music internationally. src="//cdn.embedly.com/widgets/media.html?src=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fembed%2FyzcmQF6jyBc%3Ffeature%3Doembed&display_name=YouTube&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com% 2Fwatch%3Fv%3DyzcmQF6jyBc&image=https%3A%2F%2Fi.ytimg.com%2Fvi%2FyzcmQF6jyBc%2Fhqdefau lt.jpg&key=8d3909c69dfb4ee29c710191d8dd756a&type=text%2Fhtml&schema=youtube" width="854" height="480" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; fullscreen; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture;" allowfullscreen="true">

For five years, I held the position of art director at the Griboedov Hill club, worked for two years as a project manager at Delo Zvuka, a company that licenses foreign phonograms in Russia, and managed the independent label Spasibo for three years. From 2017 to the present, I continue my work as a manager of the independent label Minor Notes Recordings. Did you have teaching experience before joining Skillbox?

I taught private lessons in music production, DJing, mixing, and mastering. People and their friends often approached me for help and clarification. I'm glad I was successful and could effectively impart my knowledge. My lessons helped students develop skills in these areas, which confirms my experience and proficiency in working with music.

I was invited to join Skillbox by a course producer I've known for a long time in the creative field. He first offered me the opportunity to record lectures for various music courses, and then the opportunity to become a reviewing instructor for the music management program. I really enjoyed this experience, and I've been working for this company for three years now.

I enjoy the opportunity to influence the educational process and help students achieve their goals as a reviewing instructor. I value the opportunity to analyze and evaluate knowledge, which allows me to identify students' strengths and weaknesses. This job offers the opportunity for continuous self-improvement, as it requires a deep understanding of the subject matter and current assessment methods. Furthermore, interacting with students allows me to expand my horizons, making the learning process more effective and engaging. I believe that high-quality knowledge assessment plays a key role in the development of future professionals, so I strive to ensure that every review and recommendation I give contributes to their development.

This job contributes to my ongoing development. By helping students, I also develop my own skills and knowledge.

When I explain complex technical and organizational aspects to others, I also gain a deeper understanding of them myself. This learning process not only helps me better absorb information but also facilitates the transfer of knowledge to others. Explaining complex concepts promotes the development of analytical and critical thinking skills, which ultimately increases my competence in this field.

Secondly, as a result of my professional activities, I constantly monitor current events and changes in the music market. This allows me to confidently answer students' questions and provide them with sound advice, as this requires staying up-to-date with industry developments and new laws and trends.

Online learning is becoming increasingly popular, but its effectiveness compared to the traditional offline format continues to be controversial. Opinions are divided: some argue that distance learning offers flexibility and accessibility, while others doubt its ability to provide the same level of interaction and material absorption.

In your opinion, to what extent can the online format compete with traditional teaching methods? What are the main pros and cons of each approach?

Online learning has many advantages. First and foremost, it is accessibility. Students can study from anywhere in the world, without being tied to a geographic location. In addition, the flexible schedule allows everyone to choose the most convenient time for classes, which is especially important for working people. Online learning often offers a variety of resources and materials, which contributes to a deeper understanding of the topic. It's also worth noting that many courses offer the opportunity to interact with instructors and other students through forums and chats, which creates an active community and promotes the exchange of experiences. Finally, online learning is often more affordable, making it an attractive option for many. Save time on travel. Save time for additional study or proper rest. This will not only improve your skills but also help you recharge. Managing your free time properly contributes to personal and professional growth. More flexible schedule. Many online students combine study with work, allowing them to both gain knowledge and earn money. The online format allows you to view lectures and complete homework assignments at your convenience, without being distracted from your main activities. This makes learning more flexible and accessible, which is especially important for those who strive to develop professionally without sacrificing their financial capabilities.

  • Correspondence as additional notes

Communication with the teacher occurs in the format of correspondence, which allows the student to return to the necessary information at any time and refresh it in memory. This approach makes the learning process more flexible and accessible, providing the opportunity to quickly find answers to questions that arise.

The online format of interaction helps to reduce emotional stress, which, in turn, leads to a decrease in conflict situations. Virtual communication allows participants to remain more restrained and objective, which has a positive effect on the quality of communication and decision-making.

Some people have a true passion for music, listening to it 24/7 and dreaming of making it their life's work. However, if they don't have the skills to sing or play a musical instrument, they can channel their passion into production and management. They learn how to promote other artists to the music world and also help talented acquaintances, such as friends, partners, or relatives, realize their potential. This allows them to remain involved in the music industry and contribute to the development of talented performers.

Many people seek to change their field of work. For example, a professional who has achieved success in marketing or sales may tire of the monotony of their work and want to move into a more creative field. A transition to a new field can open up new opportunities for self-expression and development. It is important to consider your skills and interests to choose the right direction. Creative professions often offer more freedom and the opportunity to realize ideas, which can be very appealing to those seeking a career change.

Our program trains not only beginners but also experienced professionals. For example, among our students was the music manager of a Eurovision participant. Despite his significant experience in the industry, he sought to deepen his knowledge and understand the reasons why previously successful strategies no longer yield results.

The number of people equals the number of goals. For some course participants, training becomes a step toward achieving their desired result, while others return to their previous lifestyle, continuing to make music exclusively for fun.

Graduates of the program have a variety of prospects. They can count on a successful career in their field thanks to the knowledge and skills they have acquired. Graduates have the opportunity to find employment in leading companies, start-ups, and government agencies. They can also continue their education in graduate school or complete internships, which will allow them to deepen their professional competencies. Participating in networking events and professional conferences will help you expand your network and find potential employers. Thus, the program offers ample opportunities for career advancement and professional development.

Career opportunities in the music industry have expanded significantly today, driven by the market's exponential growth over the past 10-15 years. Tens of thousands of new releases are published daily on streaming platforms. Thanks to the internet and the absence of territorial restrictions, music services are now accessible to users worldwide. This creates unique opportunities for artists, producers, and music marketing professionals, providing the opportunity to work and promote their music internationally.

Modern technology allows anyone to become an artist and create music directly on their home computer or laptop. While recording in a professional studio was only available to a few musicians 30-40 years ago, the situation has changed dramatically. Independent artists have the opportunity to independently choose distribution platforms for their music, unlike in the past, when music releases were only possible through labels. This new reality opens up vast opportunities for artists and allows them to realize their creative ideas without limitations.

With the growth of music and artists, the need for specialists dedicated to promoting these creations has increased. The music industry requires qualified professionals capable of effectively promoting artists and their work, opening up new career opportunities in this dynamic field.

We support our students as they begin their careers. We invite representatives of leading labels to defend their final theses, offering internships and employment opportunities for those who interest them. This is an excellent opportunity for students to showcase their skills and gain a chance at a successful career in the industry.

Anyone can become a music manager, but certain personal qualities and skills are necessary for success. Important aspects include communication skills, organization, and the ability to work in a team. A music manager must be a good negotiator to successfully negotiate contracts and connect with artists and their fans. Knowledge of the music industry and trends is also helpful to effectively promote artists and their work. Therefore, while anyone can try their hand at management, a successful career in this field requires a combination of personal qualities and professional skills.

A music manager should possess certain qualities, such as communication skills, persistence, and good taste. However, these characteristics are not mandatory for a successful career in this field. There are examples of people who have achieved success in the music industry with completely different skills and qualities. The key is a desire to develop and the ability to adapt to changing market conditions.

A music manager must have two key elements, without which a successful career in the music industry is impossible.

  • Love of music

Those who do not appreciate, feel, and understand music will have a hard time succeeding in music management. If melodies and songs don’t touch your soul, how will you understand what will attract the attention and interest of your audience? Music management requires a deep connection with art in order to effectively promote and develop artists. Without this understanding, it is difficult to create the right strategies and choose the right tools to succeed in this dynamic and competitive field.

  • Empathy, the ability to support people

Artists and creative individuals often feel vulnerable. Due to a lack of noticeable success, they can become depressed and put their creative work on hold. In this situation, it is important for the manager to properly support the musician, helping them focus on future achievements and inspire them to achieve new things. Effective support and motivation from the manager can significantly influence the restoration of the artist's confidence and their desire to continue creating.

All other aspects can be developed and improved.

A music artist's manager plays a key role in the performer's success. The primary responsibility of a manager is to plan and coordinate all aspects of an artist's career, including organizing concerts, managing finances, interacting with media partners, and promoting the brand. The manager is also responsible for contractual agreements and developing strategies to increase the artist's visibility.

To become a music artist manager, you must have good organizational skills, knowledge of the music industry, and the ability to effectively communicate with a variety of people. A degree in management, marketing, or musicology can provide a good foundation for starting a career. Additionally, gaining experience through internships or work at music agencies is helpful.

A successful music artist manager must be proactive, creative, and prepared to quickly respond to changes in the industry. Developing a network of contacts and the ability to build trusting relationships with artists and other professionals also play a vital role in achieving success in this profession.

Music management attracts both teenagers and adults, and desire and motivation are essential for successfully mastering this field. If someone enters this field for the sake of a company or expects quick financial results, they will likely quickly become disillusioned and leave without completing what they started. Music management requires patience, perseverance, and a willingness to learn to achieve long-term success in the industry.

A serious approach to learning, consistent completion of practical assignments, and careful adherence to recommendations guarantee positive results. Numerous positive reviews confirm the effectiveness of this approach.

Students sometimes take long breaks from studying, and this is quite natural. Recently, we have seen the return of participants who purchased the course more than three years ago. This indicates that they have finally matured and are ready to approach the training with full responsibility. Such returns emphasize the importance of personal readiness and motivation during the learning process.

The course is structured to ensure maximum learning. It includes various types of assignments aimed at developing key skills. Each assignment is designed with active learning principles in mind, allowing participants to not only gain theoretical knowledge but also apply it in practice. The program includes both individual and group assignments, tests to assess mastery of the material, and practical projects that foster a deep understanding of the topic. This approach ensures comprehensive development and preparation for real-world challenges in the chosen field.

The course is structured logically and sequentially. The training is based on video lessons, which are accompanied by practical assignments. Students must complete the assignments in the prescribed order: access to the second assignment is granted only after the first has been reviewed and approved. This approach ensures deep assimilation of the material and guarantees high-quality skill acquisition.

There are two main types of assignments: formal and creative. Formal assignments are often formulated as: "Create a release plan for an artist" or "Calculate a project launch budget." These assignments involve many mechanical actions: writing text, performing calculations, filling out tables. These tasks may seem routine and difficult for students, but they are an essential part of a music manager's job. Understanding and completing formal assignments develops the skills needed to successfully manage music projects.

There are more creative tasks, such as synchronizing music with video to create a finished audiovisual product. You can also select a favorite track and determine which existing films and commercials it would best fit with. This process requires creativity and a deep understanding of both music and visual arts, allowing you to create unique and memorable projects.

Each exercise is aimed at developing key music management skills. One of the tasks is to scout promising artists. You need to find an artist on social media with an audience of less than 10,000 followers but possessing a unique flair that has caught your attention. This could be impressive music or an original style. These assignments help develop analytical thinking and enhance the ability to identify talent in the competitive music market.

Following this, students must analyze the artist's page and creative portfolio and offer recommendations for improvement. This task requires significant effort and time, but ultimately provides a clear understanding of the current state of the freshman market. Students will be able to see how many new artists are already on the market, what distinguishes them, and what problems they face in their current positioning. This analysis will help them better understand the competitive landscape and develop effective promotion strategies.

At the end of the course, students complete a final assignment, which includes a comprehensive task demonstrating their acquired knowledge and skills. The final assignment can take the form of a project, research, or presentation, depending on the chosen specialty. It is aimed at assessing students' ability to apply theoretical knowledge in practice, as well as developing critical thinking and analytical skills. Successful completion of the final project is an important milestone in the educational process and plays a key role in preparing students for professional work.

Specialists develop a comprehensive promotional strategy and initial release for each artist, taking into account their unique repertoire and individual characteristics. They determine the most effective ways to monetize their music and develop a tour plan. Artists can choose from both established artists and new ones from our database. During this process, it is important to independently apply all the knowledge gained in lectures and practical assignments to achieve maximum success in the music industry.

Students often make a number of typical mistakes when completing assignments. One of the most common mistakes is a lack of understanding of the topic of the work. Students often fail to pay sufficient attention to the assignment requirements, resulting in inconsistencies in content and format.

Insufficient research of sources is also a common problem. Many students limit themselves to the first available materials and do not conduct a thorough analysis, which reduces the quality of the work. Plagiarism is another common mistake, when students copy text without proper citations, which can lead to serious consequences.

Furthermore, an incorrectly structured work is a common problem. Incorrectly formatted introduction, main body, and conclusion can confuse the reader and spoil the overall perception of the work. Errors in grammar and spelling also negatively impact the grade and impression of the work.

It is important to remember that carefully checking and editing the text before submitting can significantly improve its quality. Asking your instructor for clarification and recommendations will help you avoid many of the above mistakes. Assignment errors often arise from a lack of understanding of the requirements. To minimize these, I regularly provide my students with important recommendations at the end of each module, emphasizing key aspects that require special attention. This helps improve the quality of assignment completion and promotes deeper learning. When supporting students, it's important to use effective techniques and life hacks. One key method is regular feedback. It helps students understand their strengths and weaknesses and allows them to adjust their learning process. It's also important to use an individual approach, taking into account the characteristics and needs of each student. It's important to create an atmosphere of trust so that students feel comfortable and can ask questions. Additionally, the use of modern technology and online resources can significantly increase interest in learning and simplify access to information. Don't forget about motivation, inspiring students to achieve their goals and supporting them during difficult moments. This is an individual matter. It's impossible to single out a single, universal approach, as everything depends on a person's personal characteristics, experience, motivation, and goals. Each case is unique, and it's important to consider these aspects when choosing a method or strategy.

Students often experience stress when faced with difficult assignments, such as writing a press release or preparing a presentation for artists. When their thoughts don't form into a coherent text and they struggle to create a visual image, many begin to doubt their abilities and even consider leaving the profession. However, the solution to these problems is often closer than it seems. It's important not to give up and to seek ways to overcome creative blocks using various techniques and methods. This will not only improve the quality of your work but also increase your confidence.

In such situations, I always try to reassure the student and explain that on our course, we explore in practice which tasks music managers can effectively perform independently and which are best delegated to outside specialists. This helps develop skills and understand how to optimally allocate resources in managing music projects.

I always emphasize to my students the importance of effective team coordination. A music manager is like a conductor in an orchestra. They don't necessarily have to master all the instruments, but they must be able to direct and organize the participants' actions, indicating what, who, and when to do it. Proper coordination is key to the successful completion of projects in the music industry.

When assessing a student's work, we consider several key criteria. First, the student's understanding of the topic covered in their work is important. This includes the presence of clear and well-reasoned arguments, as well as the ability to analyze and compare information. Second, we pay attention to the structure and logical sequence of the material's presentation. The quality of writing, including grammar, style, and clarity of presentation, also plays a significant role in the assessment. In addition, we evaluate the originality of the work and the use of sources, which helps determine the student's level of independence. These criteria help ensure an objective and fair assessment of each student's work.

Our system does not use the traditional school grading scale of Fs and A's. Instead, we use a "pass/fail" approach, which allows for a more objective assessment of results. This method includes not only feedback on the result achieved, but also recommendations for further improvement and recognition of successes.

If I do not accept work, it means that it does not meet the requirements or needs revision. I always point out which areas require improvement and offer useful resources for study. If the work is high-quality and meets the assignment, I accept it and leave positive comments.

We always strive to bring any work to a high-quality result. After all, our main goal is to help students achieve their desired success. We are ready to invest the time and effort, even if it takes a month and several revisions. High-quality completion of tasks and supporting students in their aspirations is our priority.

Above all, it is important not to rush. Students are often in a rush, especially around the New Year. It is recommended to devote sufficient time to preparation and careful consideration of all details to achieve the best results.
