France, late 1950s. Young film critic Jean-Luc Godard, full of confidence in his own uniqueness, begins work on his first film. He invites his friend Jean-Paul Belmondo to play the lead male role, and chooses rising Hollywood star Jean Seberg for the female role. To save money, many scenes were shot spontaneously on the streets without pre-written scripts, and sometimes filming stopped after just five minutes. Nevertheless, Godard managed to complete Breathless, which would later become a landmark work for both the French New Wave and world cinema as a whole.

Breathless represents Richard Linklater's homage not only to Jean-Luc Godard and his iconic film, but also to the entire cinematic movement that had a significant influence on the American director's development. In making his early films, such as Slacker and You Can't Learn to Plow by Reading, Linklater drew heavily on the style and approaches of New Wave masters such as Truffaut, Chabrol, and Godard. These directors were known for their relaxed shooting methods, energetic editing, and portrayals of heroes who rebel against the status quo.

Maxim, the son of an influential Moscow official, finds himself at the center of a scandal after witnessing or even becoming an accomplice to an incident at a nightclub that nearly left a man dead. Footage of the incident quickly spreads across social media, threatening his mother's career. To avoid any undesirable consequences and secure her re-election, she decides to send Maxim to a remote village until the dust settles. In his new home, the teenager constantly returns to the events of that fateful night, and ultimately decides to confront his guilt and come to terms with it.

"The Fire Boy" is Nadezhda Mikhalkova's second feature film. She previously released the less-than-successful horror film "Lost Place," which generally received negative reviews from critics. Perhaps, in the drama genre, Mikhalkova will be able to demonstrate her talents more confidently.

Many years have passed since he left his daughters without explaining the reasons for his departure, and only now has he decided to return to the profession. His intention is to create a film that will be the pinnacle of his career, and he wants to cast his eldest daughter Nora, who works as a theater actress, as the main character.
