Senior backend developer with experience in Python. In my free time, I enjoy sports and singing. Having previously studied jazz vocals and performed in jazz clubs, I combine my creative approach with technical skills.
I graduated from Tomsk State University with a degree in Computer Security, where I received a solid mathematical foundation. The university emphasizes fundamental knowledge rather than specific frameworks or tech stacks. This allows graduates to independently master the necessary technologies, which is especially important in the rapidly changing IT industry, where developers often need to retrain to work with new tools and approaches. My experience at university prepared me to adapt and implement new technologies, which is a key aspect of a successful career in computer security.
From Frontend to Backend and Management
After completing my studies, I spent almost three years working at the Tomsk startup Supl.biz. This company connects wholesale suppliers with small and medium-sized businesses. During my career, I successfully rose to the position of lead developer, which allowed me to deepen my knowledge of software development and project management.
When I started my career, the company's processes weren't optimized. As one of the first technical employees, I knew our system better than anyone else. This led to me often being trusted to master new areas. I actively worked to improve internal processes and increase the team's efficiency. My experience and knowledge allowed me not only to improve collaboration within the company but also to implement innovations that contributed to its growth.
I started my career as a full-stack developer. JavaScript is my favorite programming language, but I dislike front-end development. I understand that over time you can get used to any technology, but I never managed to fall in love with front-end development. My true passion is back-end development, and this area attracts me much more than front-end work.
Over time, I shifted from frontend to infrastructure and DevOps, and then took on team management. As a "jack-of-all-trades" team lead, I quickly experienced burnout, as it's impossible to work in that mode for long. However, this experience allowed me to develop in several areas and significantly improve my skills. I broadened my technical horizons and deepened my understanding of business processes, which was an important step in my career.
After leaving the startup, I moved to Moscow and started working at CIAN. As part of my work, I worked on a website search optimization project, which I implemented with my partner. I am currently on hiatus to take a break and consider my next steps. In a couple of months, I plan to actively look for a new job in the field of IT and web development.
What a Senior Developer Should Be Able to Do
A Senior Developer plays a key role in team management and project management. They are not only responsible for the technical implementation of tasks, but must also possess important soft skills that facilitate effective interaction within the team. The ability to communicate effectively, resolve conflicts, and inspire colleagues is an integral part of their work. The combination of technical expertise and developed interpersonal skills allows a Senior Developer to successfully achieve goals and ensure high quality of work.
Development planning is a key step in the successful completion of a project. It is important to collect all requirements in advance, test hypotheses, and carefully consider a strategy for achieving the goals. It is necessary to determine the necessary tools and resources for project implementation. Relying only on theoretical knowledge is not enough; it is important to take into account practical experience and data analysis. Effective planning will minimize risks and increase the chances of project success.
High-quality coding is a key element of successful software development. Creating quickly and easily maintainable code not only speeds up the development process but also improves the quality of the final product. Every line of code you or your team writes goes into production, making you responsible for its reliability and functionality. This highlights the importance of adhering to coding standards and using best practices to ensure the longevity and maintainability of software.

Efficient resource allocation is a key aspect of successful work. Controlling your physical and emotional resources will help avoid burnout and increase productivity. Take on as many tasks as you can handle efficiently. If you feel you're not coping with the workload, it's important to openly communicate this to your team and management. Proper task management and communication with colleagues contribute to a healthy work atmosphere and improve overall results.
Effective communication with colleagues is a key skill for any manager. The ability to clearly and correctly express your thoughts, as well as achieve consensus with the team, contributes to the successful completion of tasks. For example, it's important to explain to the manager and testers the reasons why a certain task must be completed in a specific format. This not only helps avoid misunderstandings but also strengthens team spirit, which ultimately leads to higher-quality results. Developing communication skills improves teamwork and contributes to the achievement of shared goals.
Understanding business requirements. One of the main frustrations faced by new programmers is the realization that time to solve problems is limited. In a real-world work environment, it's impossible to focus solely on writing perfect code or building perfect systems. The primary focus is on business objectives, and the team's work is aligned with these priorities. Sometimes a task must be completed quickly but with minimal quality; other times, it must be completed slowly but with a high level of quality. There are situations where both speed and quality are essential. Each task is unique and requires a flexible approach to work style and pace.
Conflicts within the team. If a conflict arises, it is important to resolve it promptly or seek management's help. It is essential to remain calm and avoid emotional reactions. Effective dispute resolution helps quickly restore the working atmosphere and improve team productivity.
What tasks does a senior developer handle?
Every company has its own priorities and development strategy. Product managers conduct an in-depth market analysis to determine which projects need to be implemented to achieve key business goals. Based on the data obtained, they distribute projects among team leads and their teams, which allows for the most efficient use of resources and optimizes work processes. This approach contributes to the successful completion of tasks and increases the company's competitiveness.
The senior developer is responsible for project analysis and proposes the most effective solutions to management in terms of time and budget. They also select the technical stack and assemble the team, which is critical for the successful implementation of the project.
After approval, the project is decomposed into smaller tasks, which helps optimize the workflow. The level of decomposition depends on the team composition and its experience. For example, it's important for junior specialists to receive clear and detailed assignments to avoid misunderstandings. Meanwhile, for more experienced mid-level and senior specialists, it's enough to identify the key project areas for which they will be responsible and discuss general approaches to completing the tasks. This approach promotes the effective distribution of responsibility and allows the team to work more harmoniously.

I use IDE RuCharm For writing code, Django is my favorite tool, and so far I haven't found anything more convenient. In my professional work, I often work with messaging systems such as RabbitMQ and Kafka. I also have experience working with relational databases, including PostgreSQL and MS SQL, as well as NoSQL solutions such as Cassandra. In addition, on every project, I encounter the Elasticsearch search engine, which has become an integral part of my work.
At the beginning of my career, I actively used Django. This framework is often used in small projects due to its simplicity and convenience. However, in larger projects, there is a tendency to abandon high-level frameworks. As the complexity of a project increases, developers often need to write lower-level code, which allows for better performance control and tailoring the solution to specific requirements. Therefore, choosing technologies depending on the scale of the project becomes critical to achieving optimal results.
Tips for Beginner Developers
I started learning development back in university when I found several small Django projects with a moderate salary. I recommend starting a career in backend development with Django, as it is simple, has a low entry barrier, and has excellent documentation. For a start, you can create, for example, a website for your pet, which will help consolidate your knowledge and develop programming skills. Django is ideal for beginner developers, allowing you to quickly implement ideas and projects, making it an excellent choice for starting out in web development.
To confidently enter the profession, you need to actively practice while simultaneously studying theory through books and other sources. Programming practice is key, without which knowledge of theory will not bring tangible benefits. However, for professional growth, it is important to have solid fundamental knowledge. Continuous self-education and skill development will help you become a successful specialist in your field.
In IT companies, most tasks do not require in-depth engineering knowledge. Although they may be simple, they must be completed, and good financial conditions are offered for this. Therefore, you can become a Junior Developer after completing programming courses, even if you do not have a higher technical education. The opportunity to enter the IT field is available to anyone willing to learn and master new skills.
