The HSE School of Art and Design invites students from various universities, as well as students of design courses and recent graduates (with a degree of no more than one year old), to develop a concept for a video game based on real-life locations in Moscow. Participants will be tasked with creating game mechanics using urban spaces such as the metro, Moscow courtyards, and the Lenin Library. Works must include a concept document, a description of gameplay, interface sketches, level diagrams, and visual concepts. You can also submit a fake trailer if you wish.
Prizes:
- First place - 150,000 rubles;
- Second place - 100,000 rubles;
- Third place - 50,000 rubles.
The application deadline is September 1st.
Fashion designer competition from Sportmaster and Beinopen

Sportmaster, together with Beinopen, announces a competition for designers, engineers, and technologists. Participants will create sportswear sketches, develop patterns, and design flow charts under the guidance of professional experts. The projects deemed the best could become part of the brand's actual collections. In addition, the winners will have the opportunity to complete a paid internship, and will also be recognized with publications and a cash grant of 125,000 rubles.
The application deadline is August 31.
M2M-35 Poster Design Competition as part of the Message to Man Festival

The International Film Festival "Message to Man" is launching a competition to design an anniversary poster. Participants will be asked to create a design that includes the festival's symbol, "Centaur," as well as mandatory elements such as the festival dates (October 17–25, 2025) and the title in Russian and English.
Submissions can be submitted in PDF format (A1, vertical) or as an animated digital project. The judging categories include "harmonious and innovative solution," "originality of idea," "clarity of presentation," and "technical mastery."
The grand prize is 35,000 rubles, and the most outstanding projects will be posted on the festival's and the HSE School of Design's social media.
The application deadline is September 9.
Invitation to participate in the open competition of the Superkat workshop at the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art

As part of the "Open Storage. Video Essays" initiative, the Garage Digital project, the Garage Museum Media Archive, and Garage Academy are organizing a workshop. Participants will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of video essay writing, exploring areas such as video criticism and autofiction, and will also be able to work with archival materials provided by Garage.
The program includes two main components: lectures from domestic and international experts, and practical activities related to the creation of video essays. This part will be led by Andrey Kachalyan, Nikita Nechaev, and Maxim Seleznev. Classes are scheduled for the period from September to December 2025 and will consist of 12 meetings.
The application deadline is September 15.
Open Colloquium "Material Power" at "GES-2"

GES-2 is launching an open competition for artists and designers over 18 years of age living in cities where SIBUR operates. Participants are invited to explore the physical and conceptual characteristics of materials in the context of art, as well as their influence on the expression of artistic ideas. Works must be completed in the Svody workshops located in GES-2.
The application deadline is August 24.
Global Illustration Competition BO it!

The Altrove association has announced the fourth international illustration competition, which explores the relationship between water and the city. Participants are invited to reflect on the stories rivers and waterways can tell, how they influence the fate of settlements, and what role they play in their future. Works should be created in a 30x30 centimeter format, inspired by the shape of the Finestrella window in Bologna, symbolizing the connection between urban life and water resources. The execution technique is not limited. Participation in the competition costs 15 euros (10 euros for students upon presentation of a supporting document). Thirty final works will be exhibited at an exhibition in Bologna in 2026.
The deadline for applications is September 15.
Communication Arts Typography Competition 2026

Communication Arts Magazine announces the 66th International Typography Competition. Submissions must be designed or published between September 2024 and September 2025, and must feature typography as the primary visual component. The authors of the best projects will be recognized with publication in the Communication Arts Typography Annual in both print and digital formats, and will also receive personalized aluminum Award of Excellence certificates.
The deadline for submissions is September 12th.
