Sometimes you come across books that, once you start reading them, you won't let go until the last page. Reading such works makes you want to continue, immerse yourself in the plot and reflect on what's happening. These books are able to capture attention and leave a deep imprint on the reader's mind.

The book cover attracts attention with its bright blue binding, which is so saturated that the eye does not immediately rush to the image. On the tray held by a character - possibly a sister of mercy or a nun - there is not only a cup, but also a jar. On this jar, the same sister of mercy is also depicted, holding a similar jar in her hands. This visual effect creates a sense of infinity and mystery. At this stage, the meaning of the image remains unclear, arousing curiosity and a desire to understand the plot.

On the endpaper of the book is an old map, which, judging by the translucent seals on the back, is genuine. It depicts Mittau. I wonder if this is a historical novel? The bright blue color of the map attracts attention and creates an atmosphere of mystery.

Next follows an unexpected "Introduction", executed on thick blue paper. The text is laid out across two columns and is supplemented with blue notes, a timeline, and color illustrations. It's essentially a transcript of a dialogue between the publishers and readers—those who have already read the book. We haven't even opened the book yet. Let's try to delve into the content.

There are two possible scenarios. One group of readers may become dissatisfied with the confusing plot, quickly skim to the end, and close the book in disappointment. Meanwhile, another group, admiring the intellectual intricacies and multilayered nature of the work, will continue reading, enjoying the allusions and nuances that make the book captivating. Whether reading continuously, selectively, or simply skimming the pages, readers invariably encounter illustrations. These visual elements play a vital role in the perception of the text and can significantly enhance interest in the material. Illustrations help to better understand the content, enrich the information, and make reading more engaging. Thus, the presence of high-quality images and graphics is an integral part of any text, attracting attention and stimulating interest in reading. Artist Pyotr Perevezentsev is an outstanding master of creating imaginary worlds. He independently forms them from unique material, establishing his own rules of existence. However, in this case, Perevezentsev interacts with an existing, authorial world, where the rules of this world are as insane and improbable as his own. This circumstance complicates his creative task. The temptation to take part in the author's game and change the course of events according to your own rules is great—after all, it's all just fiction, inaccessible to reality. The question is, is it worth bending the rules to create your own unique world?

Petr Perevezentsev is not only a talented inventor, but also an experienced, conscientious artist and illustrator. His works are distinguished by their high quality and originality, which makes him a sought-after specialist in the field of illustration.

The artist clearly understands the boundaries of his work as an illustrator. He understands what is acceptable in the creative process and what is dishonest towards the author. The illustrator can participate in the creative process, supporting the author's vision, but has no right to impose their ideas. The author remains the master, the captain of this bright blue ship—the book. The interaction between the illustrator and the author should be built on trust and respect, where each fulfills their unique role to create a harmonious work.

If this is the case, then the only option left for the visionary artist is the most obvious: to depict what is written. A mysterious beast, a thorny wolf? There you have it, a thorny wolf. By depicting it, the artist can bring all their ideas and emotions to life, using vibrant colors and unique shapes that highlight the character of this mythical creature. Drawing becomes not only a way of self-expression, but also an opportunity to convey the atmosphere and essence of what is described in literature.

This simple but effective This approach transforms the unreal into reality, and the unreal becomes tangible. In this gloomy Baltic atmosphere, a mysterious world of uncertain geography comes into being, where place names defy textbook definition. Mitava, Jelgava, Courland—these names blur across space and time, raising the question not of "where is this?" but of "when was this?" Such places evoke interest and mystery, filling the imagination with a history and culture that defy strict definition.

A place and time that cannot be described precisely. They exist in the imagination, in a blue book where fantasy and reality are intertwined. This text awakens interest in the unknown, making you think about how many secrets the world hides. The blue book becomes a symbol of exploration and discovery, inviting the reader to immerse themselves in a world where the boundaries between the possible and the impossible are erased. Embark on a journey through the pages, where every plot twist can lead to unexpected discoveries.
