MỘC HÒA: The Symbolism of Bamboo in Design

Vietnamese New Year is not only a significant event, but also a chance to deeply understand and rethink cultural traditions. Chillgold has designed unique gift envelopes for MỘC HÒA that capture the spirit of Vietnam and oriental art. These envelopes will not only symbolize the holiday but also add a vibrant accent to any celebration, highlighting the richness of Vietnamese culture and traditions. The design, based on the traditional Vietnamese art of mother-of-pearl inlay, has deep roots dating back to the 3rd–5th centuries. Chillgold's design team conducted meticulous research to recreate this unique effect using modern printing technologies. Thus, they successfully combine ancient traditions and modern innovations, creating unique pieces that reflect the richness of Vietnamese culture. Each envelope is decorated with vibrant scenes from village life, which, when combined, create a unified panorama. Additionally, each envelope features a message reflecting one of the four key qualities of bamboo: unity, flexibility, resilience, and simplicity. This makes the envelopes not only beautiful but also filled with deep meaning, which draws attention to their design and concept.

Christmas stamps by Roberts Rurans

Latvian designer Roberts Rurans creates unique Christmas stamps for the Latvian Post. His work harmoniously blends traditional Christian motifs with modern visual elements, making each stamp a true work of art. These original designs not only highlight Latvia's cultural heritage but also bring a fresh perspective to the Christmas theme, attracting the attention of collectors and art lovers.

The depiction of the Adoration of the Magi, where family members bring gifts to the Christ child, vividly highlights the traditions of Christmas. Meanwhile, other stamps depict the process of decorating a Christmas tree, creating an interesting contrast between ancient customs and modern traditions. This contrast allows for a deeper understanding of how Christmas traditions have developed and how they remain rooted in culture.

In his work, Rurans not only interacts with visual stereotypes but also draws on the traditions of European painting, in which biblical stories often intersect with modern decorations. This approach reminds believers that religious history continues to unfold today. In this way, Rurans's work becomes a bridge between the past and the present, highlighting the relevance of spiritual themes in a contemporary context.
