Weekend Vibes: The Art of Calvin Sprague

Calvin Sprague is a brilliant illustrator who used his forced downtime to create a unique series of illustrations. While sick and confined to his home, Sprague drew inspiration from the moments his friends were enjoying themselves. He created captivating images of modern young people relaxing while reading, playing board games, or simply enjoying life in a cozy setting. These illustrations not only reflect a carefree atmosphere but also convey a sense of happiness and tranquility, making them particularly appealing to viewers.

In this series, Sprague uses unconventional camera angles, allowing the viewer to see the characters from a unique perspective. The figures are depicted from below, which emphasizes their legs and makes them more expressive than their heads. This approach, combined with minimalist vector graphics, creates striking compositions that are ideal for both outdoor advertising and interiors. The use of unique perspectives makes Sprague's work memorable and attention-grabbing, enhancing both its commercial value and aesthetic appeal.

Gallery Sohe: Art and Design in Shanghai

Every Saturday afternoon, shopping attracts many friends, and the perfect place for this is Gallery Sohe – a unique furniture gallery located in the center of Shanghai. This project, designed by talented designer Han Gao, has already gained recognition thanks to the successful previous project of the gallery website Rm68. Gallery Sohe offers a wide range of furniture and accessories, making it attractive for those looking to update the interior of their home. Convenient location and original design solutions make this gallery the ideal place for inspiration and shopping.

In working on the visual style of Gallery Sohe, Han Gao takes an innovative approach, exploring the aesthetics of vintage brands. He created six unique images inspired by clay molds with geometric patterns that reference 18th-century European aesthetics and their Masonic symbols. This harmonious blend of tradition and modernity makes the project particularly appealing to art and design enthusiasts, highlighting the uniqueness of each element. The engaging dialogue between past and present in Han Gao's work opens up new dimensions of visual perception. Gao employs a vibrant palette, using blue pictograms on a white background to create the effect of ink and print. This approach lends the brand a classic look. However, the designer goes further, incorporating modern elements such as asymmetrical image placement and overlapping graphic components, adding dynamism and freshness to the work. This approach not only distinguishes the brand but also attracts audience attention, combining tradition and innovation in design.
