Summer isn't over yet, and even with its end, the world of design continues to delight us with its bright and creative projects. In this issue, we present an original font inspired by dot matrix printers, talk about a new design for a fashion and textile school, explore streaming services, dive into retro pop vibes, and meet women confidently mastering programming. Our goal is to show how modern trends and technologies influence design and education, opening new horizons for creative ideas and initiatives.

Innovative Design: New Mercat

Barcelona-based creative agency Toormix has presented a unique set of fonts called New Mercat. This font draws inspiration from the dot matrix printer designs of the 70s and 80s, making it the perfect example of combining retro and modernity. New Mercat is suitable for a variety of design projects, adding a nostalgic touch to modern visual content. Its unique style allows text to stand out and draw attention to important information, making it an excellent choice for brands seeking originality and expressiveness. New Mercat is a monospaced display pixel font that offers six different weights perfect for combining. Each weight features a unique letterform, including a full fill, two grid shapes, and various horizontal and vertical rulers. Thanks to its diversity and expressiveness, New Mercat is perfect for creating striking and memorable designs, as well as for use in web design where legibility and style are important. Use it for headings, logos, and other graphic elements to draw attention to your project.

The designers chose a contrasting combination of black and lime green for the font's visual appeal. This combination not only emphasizes modernity but also evokes associations with the world of design and the dynamic atmosphere of techno parties. Black symbolizes elegance and style, while light green adds brightness and energy, making it a particularly good choice for attracting attention in the creative field.

PolyU Fashion Show: Creative Takeoff of Graduates

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) annually holds a unique event in the world of fashion – PolyU Fashion Show. At this show, young and promising designers present their original collections, showcasing their unique vision of the fashion industry. This event not only provides an opportunity for emerging talent to showcase their work but also serves as a platform for discussing contemporary trends in fashion and design. The PolyU Fashion Show is becoming a milestone in the fashion industry calendar, attracting the attention of both professionals and fashion enthusiasts.

This year, designer Anthony Lam integrated the concept of unboxing into the core of his show. This innovative approach, inspired by the popular unboxing video format, vividly demonstrates the process of unleashing students' creative potential. Silhouettes reminiscent of cardboard boxes symbolize not only the packaging but also the act of discovery itself, perfectly in line with the spirit of fashion and its desire for self-expression. This approach not only captures the viewer's attention but also highlights the importance of creativity in the world of design.

A catalog was created to accompany the exhibition, featuring students' work designed in the "cardboard box" style. This original approach allows for a deeper understanding of the show's concept and highlights the uniqueness of each designer. The catalog serves not only as a supporting material but also as an important presentation element, helping to draw attention to students' creative solutions and their individual style.

The Complete Guide to Streaming Services

Lead designer Jiaqi Wang created striking illustrations for the Los Angeles Times that explore the streaming revolution and the current conflicts between different platforms. These works vividly illustrate changes in the media industry, highlighting the impact of streaming on traditional content distribution methods. Wang's illustrations capture the essence of the current "wars" between streaming services, demonstrating not only competition but also the evolution of consumer habits in the digital age.

For the special project's homepage, Wang developed an animation featuring a remote control, featuring various characters and objects from the world of cinema. This animation was adapted into an illustration, allowing it to grace the cover of the issue and several articles on the website. The interactivity and visual appeal of the animation attract users' attention and make the content more engaging.

The visual design of this guide is based on a combination of yellow, blue, and pink colors. These colors create a harmonious style and help highlight key layout elements, such as headings and columns for author materials. This approach to design not only attracts attention but also improves the perception of information, making it more accessible to the reader. Using a color palette helps create a unique visual style that emphasizes content and engages the audience.

Creative Collaboration: Fundmental and Luddo

Buenos Aires-based designer Luddo has had an interesting collaboration with clothing brand Fundmental, temporarily serving as Art Director. This collaboration has the potential to become a significant event in the fashion industry, drawing attention to new trends and original solutions. This project is expected to introduce unique design ideas that will highlight the brand's individuality and style. Luddo's concept is based on unique illustrations, thoughtful photo shoots, and creative lettering, which creates a distinctive style. Bright orange and pink shades harmoniously combine with sunny yellow, creating visual appeal and memorability. This approach allows the brand to stand out from the competition and attract the attention of the target audience. The interplay of fonts and lettering reflects the playful nature of the Fundmental brand. The logo, with its smooth and elegant lines, imparts sophistication, and when combined with other elements, creates an impression of a strict style. The lettering on the images is reminiscent of fonts from cartoons and children's drawings, adding a casual and joyful touch. This balance between elegance and playfulness makes the brand unique and memorable, captivating viewers and evoking positive emotions.

The photographs featured in this collaboration are striking in their brightness and richness. The richness of the images stems not only from the models' clothing and the textures of the children's trampolines, but also from Luddo's unique artwork, which imbues the images with a special vibrancy and mood. Every detail is carefully considered, making these photographs not just a visual but also an emotional experience.

The Role of Women in IT: Women in Tech

Women in Tech is an international initiative aimed at supporting inclusivity, diversity, and equality in the tech industry. The organization offers women access to educational resources, promotes the creation of startups, and helps them adapt to corporate culture. She also actively advocates for women in legal matters, promoting their professional growth and development in technology. This initiative plays a key role in creating a more just and equal tech community.

According to recent research, women make up only 25% of the tech workforce, according to the World Economic Forum. The Women in Tech program aims to change this statistic by offering essential support and resources for women pursuing a career in the field. The importance of the initiative is clear: it not only increases the number of women in tech but also helps create a more diverse and innovative work environment. Supporting women in IT is essential for the development of the industry and the achievement of gender equality.

Brazilian artist Erika Lourenço presented original illustrations for an event organized by the Bank of Brazil. Her works prominently feature elements of information technology: earrings shaped like code brackets, flowers reminiscent of the Wi-Fi symbol, and stems styled like USB cables. These unique illustrations highlight the connection between art and technology, creating a visually appealing image for the event.

Lorenço's illustrations are executed in pastel colors such as yellow, pink, blue, and violet. Not only are these colors beautiful, but they also perfectly match the Bank of Brazil's signature color palette, which is used to decorate the conference room. The harmony between the illustrations and the interior creates a cozy atmosphere conducive to productive meetings and discussions.
