AlfaStrakhovanie Company summed up the results of a survey conducted at the end of last year regarding the financial goals of Russians for 2023. It turned out that 34.6% of respondents set a goal to increase their income. However, only 8% are willing to invest in additional education to achieve this goal. Most survey participants consider part-time work or changing jobs as ways to increase income, but such strategies do not involve changing professions or developing new skills, indicating low interest in obtaining an education.

The study primarily included residents of large cities such as Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Samara, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod, and Chelyabinsk. These cities represent the very audience that most actively participates in learning on online platforms. Data analysis shows that residents of large cities most often choose distance learning, due to their high level of access to online resources and educational opportunities.

According to a study conducted in the summer by analysts from the online university Skypro and the job search service HeadHunter, 85% of Russians considered changing their career at least once in the first half of 2022. This study identified the primary fear associated with career changes: people worry that their efforts won't yield the expected results. Many people consider changing careers to increase their income, but only a small number decide to make such a change. This may be due to a lack of confidence in the feasibility of such a move. Changing careers can open up new opportunities and lead to a significant increase in income, but to do so, you need to carefully assess your skills, interests, and the labor market. The key is to understand that changing careers requires not only courage but also preparation to achieve the desired outcome.

According to a study conducted by the Higher School of Economics last fall among more than a thousand Skillbox users, the majority of people choosing online courses are seeking to change their careers. The study included students who completed 12 educational courses in programming, marketing, and design between February 1, 2020, and October 31, 2021. The results showed that 93% of participants believed that the training contributed to the achievement of their career goals. This underscores the importance of online education for professional growth and development in today's environment.

EdTech representatives are actively discussing the fact that organizations providing continuing professional education are actually competing for a narrow target audience—motivated adults ready to learn. This group makes up a small portion of the country's adult population. Most adults work long hours and earn low wages, and they see little benefit in education. However, these are precisely the people who could significantly improve their quality of life by mastering in-demand professions. For the successful growth and development of supplementary education, it is necessary to change the perception of its value and accessibility to attract a wider audience and help people realize their potential.

At the YaC/e conference, organized by Yandex in late 2021, Skyeng Managing Partner Alexander Laryanovsky emphasized the importance of educational outreach to attract audiences to learning. He noted that before offering educational services, it is necessary to convince people of their true value. Achieving this goal requires active collaboration and informational support from the educational community.

According to the results of a survey conducted by AlfaStrakhovanie, this is indeed the case.
