Genially is a universal platform for creating interactive content. Here you can develop presentations, slide courses, infographics, timelines, quizzes, games and interactive images, as well as create branching quests. Genially allows you to quickly and easily animate or make interactive any elements, such as images, icons and buttons. The platform offers extensive opportunities for engaging audiences and improving information comprehension, making it an ideal tool for educational institutions and businesses.

Each format offers a wide selection of templates, allowing you to edit all design elements. If the available templates are not enough, you can use a blank sheet to create unique content of your choice. This gives you the flexibility to adapt the design to specific needs and preferences.

The platform is fully accessible to users from Russia without any restrictions. It offers a free plan that includes:

  • hundreds of templates;
  • all interactive elements and animations;
  • upload of images, PDFs, PowerPoint, and Google Slides;
  • 1 GB of cloud storage for created materials;
  • AI-powered background removal for images.

Paid plans provide access to premium templates and additional features, such as the ability to upload audio files from your computer and publish materials with limited access via a link. Unlike the free plan, which indexes all published materials, paid options allow more flexible management of content and its availability.

The interface is presented in English, but it is quite easy to understand. If you encounter any difficulties, you can use the automatic page translation function in your browser. This will help you quickly master the functionality and simplify its use.

The service is a useful tool for creating educational materials for distance and blended learning formats. It will be in demand among course developers, corporate training specialists, and educators. Thanks to its free availability and ease of use, this service is also suitable for students and schoolchildren, allowing them to effectively complete creative assignments and present their projects.

Genially offers a wide range of options for creating interactive content. The platform allows users to develop presentations, infographics, games, and other visual materials using an intuitive interface. To get started with Genially, you need to register on the website, after which you will have access to a wide range of tools and templates. Users can easily customize design elements, add animations and interactive elements, making the content more attractive and engaging. Genially is ideal for both educational and business purposes, allowing you to create unique content that stands out from traditional formats.

How to register on the platform

To get started, create an account on the Genially platform. On the main page, click the Sign Up button. You will be asked to select the appropriate role: Professional, Teacher, or Student. This choice affects personalized template recommendations. For example, if you want to receive templates for creating educational content, choose the "Teacher" role, even if your course is intended for peers as an expert. The "Professional" role offers templates for resumes, portfolios, and corporate reports. However, it is worth noting that this division is conditional, since all free templates and functions are available regardless of the selected role.

Creating an account on the platform is as simple as possible. The most convenient way is to use a Google account. However, you can also register using email. In this case, a confirmation email will be sent to the specified address. Click the link provided. After confirmation, you will be asked additional questions regarding your professional activities or educational background. You can choose the appropriate option from the proposed ones.

After completing registration, the user gets access to their personal account. This section stores all created materials that can be edited or published immediately. The personal account provides convenient access to content management, allowing users to easily update and share their work.

On the free plan in Three main options are available in the sidebar:

  • Templates opens the template library. The "Create genially" section on the main dashboard page also leads there.
  • Inspiration displays a collection of materials created by other users. Content based on premium templates is marked with a star icon—on the free plan, such resources are viewable only. There's also an icon with a circle of arrows—this means the material can be copied to your library and used as a template, meaning you can freely edit and publish it. If there are no icons, the content is available for everyone to use (for example, you can embed it on your website), but not to edit.
  • Settings — account settings where you can see, for example, how much free storage space you have left.

Under the user's name is a purple button "Create genially". Clicking it opens a compact menu, allowing the user to quickly begin creating a new project. This menu offers a variety of options that simplify the workflow and make it easy to select the right tools to create unique content.

  • From a template again takes you to the template library.
  • Blank creation allows you to start with a blank page, setting its size and aspect ratio.
  • From a team template is a premium option for those who share their Genially workspace with colleagues.
  • Import uploads PDFs, presentations (up to 100 MB), and images (up to 5 MB) to the platform, after which you can add interactive elements to them.

In this article, we'll look at what materials you can create using templates and explore the features of the Genially editor when working with a blank canvas or an uploaded document. Genially provides users with a variety of options for creating interactive content that can be adapted to suit a variety of needs. Using templates, you can quickly and effectively develop presentations, infographics, and other visual materials. When working with a blank document, the editor offers tools for adding multimedia elements, interactive objects, and animations, allowing you to create unique and memorable projects.

What features do Genially templates offer?

The templates in the Genially library represent a wide range of visual interactive content, categorized into categories and subcategories. Each subcategory includes templates with different display formats suitable for both large and mobile screens, as well as unique visual design. Furthermore, templates can be combined, allowing you, for example, to integrate a quiz and a timeline into a single presentation, thereby creating more dynamic and engaging content. Genially offers flexibility in creating unique designs, making it ideal for educational and business presentations. By default, the platform displays all available templates, including premium options. Free plan users are advised to filter only those templates available free of charge. To do this, click on the category name you're interested in, click the funnel icon on the right, and uncheck "Premium." You can also refine your selection to display only templates for educational (Education) or corporate (Corporate) purposes, as well as those that do not fall into either category (Others).

Screenshot: Genially / Skillbox Media

Clicking on a template opens an interactive preview window, allowing the user to test all the mechanics used. Clicking on the pointing finger icon highlights clickable elements, and the hand icon shows those that can be dragged. The template card also includes tags, making it easy to search for similar options. This functionality improves the user experience and allows you to quickly find the necessary solutions.

Some templates offer a choice of colors, but you can also customize the design yourself. In addition, the heart icon allows you to save the template to your favorites, and the "Use this template" button copies it to your personal account for further use.

There are many types of content that can be quickly created using templates. Templates simplify the process of creating and structuring information, while ensuring a high-quality, professional-looking final product. Using templates, you can quickly prepare articles, blogs, press releases, marketing materials, reports, and much more. This significantly saves time and effort, allowing you to focus on content and its optimization for search engines. Templates also help maintain consistency in design and style, which is important for creating a recognizable brand. As a result, using templates becomes an effective tool for creating diverse content in a short time.

The first subcategory, called Games, offers a variety of challenges and activities. Here you will find tasks such as "Arrange the words in the correct order," "Fill in the blanks," and "Match the words with the pictures." There are also puzzles, including Sudoku, which develop logical thinking. The entertainment category features classic games such as Battleship, Hangman, Tic-Tac-Toe, as well as adventure games where players roll a virtual dice and move around the game squares. This subcategory offers engaging activities for all ages and skill levels, promoting problem-solving skills and having fun.

Screenshot: Genially / Skillbox Media

The second subcategory is Escape Games. These are "room escape" games where players find themselves in a confined space and must solve a series of tasks and puzzles. The main goal of these games is to find necessary objects or clues that will help them "escape," such as opening a locked door with a code. Escape games are becoming increasingly popular, attracting fans of intellectual entertainment and teamwork. They promote logical thinking and teamwork, making them an excellent choice for corporate events and friendly get-togethers.

Genially offers a wide variety of quests, varying in theme and design. Farm-themed or underwater-themed quests, designed in a bright cartoon style, are perfect for younger students. Older students and adult learners may be interested in more complex plots, such as exploring fantasy dungeons with treasure-guarded skeletons, detective investigations, or exploring a museum of lost art. These quests are not only entertaining but also promote the development of critical thinking and creativity.

Branching scenario is a unique game subtype that allows you to create interactive stories that develop depending on the student's choices. This format emphasizes that every decision impacts the final outcome, and instead of a standard scoring system, it's important to configure transitions to different slides based on answers. Careful consideration of possible routes is crucial, ensuring deep student engagement and interest. This approach not only promotes learning but also develops critical thinking, as students must analyze the consequences of their decisions. This category contains only four free templates, one of which resembles an infographic. The templates have a subdued style, which may not be vibrant enough for a children's quest with a branching structure. However, you can use their basic design and adapt the design to suit your needs. The screenshot below shows the connections between the slides in one of these templates, which can serve as inspiration for your work.

Screenshot: Genially / Skillbox Media

Genially templates offer user-friendly solutions thanks to their unique mechanics and elements, such as illustrations of objects and characters. Often, at the end of these templates, you'll find a help slide containing diagrams or references. This makes it easy to study the script's structure or copy images for future use in your own projects. Using these templates can greatly simplify the process of creating visually appealing content.

Also learn:

A branching quest is an interactive form of learning that allows participants to make decisions that influence the course of events. This method is actively used in educational institutions to increase student engagement and improve learning. Branching quests can make the learning process more engaging and rich, while also developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

During a branching quest, participants are faced with various scenarios and choices, which helps develop their analytical skills. This approach allows for the practical application of theoretical knowledge, significantly improving comprehension and retention of information. Furthermore, branching quests can be adapted for different age groups and skill levels, making them a versatile tool in the educational process.

The use of branching quests in education also promotes teamwork, as participants often work in groups, discussing their solutions and making decisions together. This fosters an atmosphere of collaboration and idea-sharing, which in turn improves the overall classroom atmosphere.

As a result, a branching quest is an effective tool that not only enlivens the learning process but also helps develop important skills needed for successful life in the modern world.

Four types of quizzes are available on the free plan: multiple-choice, true-or-false, choose-the-correct-image, and rank-order quizzes. However, it's worth noting that Genially quizzes on the free plan are not suitable for fully assessing student knowledge, as data collection and analysis are available only to premium users. While completing quizzes, students can see correct and incorrect answers (unless this option is disabled in the settings), and at the end, they receive information about their scores and the option to download the results in PDF format. Due to the lack of a function to save answers for analysis, the quiz subcategory is practically useless for teachers. Thus, both quizzes and surveys on the platform are more synchronous activities used for warm-up, engagement, reinforcement, and self-assessment. Quiz templates come in a variety of styles, from minimalist to sophisticated, inspired by Art Deco or ancient Greek ceramic painting. You can choose the right option based on your preferences and the device you plan to use. Both horizontal and vertical formats are available, making them convenient to use on computers and smartphones.

Main Genially's content format is a multi-page set of slides, each designed in a consistent style but with varying layouts. Each template can include text, images, audio, and video, as well as interactive elements such as pop-ups and clickable buttons. Animations add dynamism and make the content more engaging for users. Genially allows you to create unique and engaging presentations, making it an ideal tool for educational and marketing purposes. When selecting a template, users can copy all slides from the set or select individual slides. The platform also supports combinations of slides from different templates. The features and elements available in the Genially editor for creating and editing materials will be discussed in detail in the section "How to Create Unique Material in Genially Using Editor Tools."

Screenshot: Genially / Skillbox Media

This section presents various subcategories with a variety of materials. Templates in the "Courses" subcategory are designed for creating educational online slide courses. These templates are organized presentations that are structured in a specific way. They include division into modules, separate slides for indicating educational objectives and outcomes, and are also designed for main content and knowledge assessment. However, it is worth noting that some limitations may apply on the free plan.

The Microlearning subcategory contains templates designed for creating small-volume educational content optimized for viewing on smartphones. These templates are ideal for effective and quick knowledge acquisition, allowing users to study anytime and anywhere.

Learning Unit templates, similar to the term "curriculum," are designed to support teachers in planning the educational process. These templates record the objectives and expected learning outcomes, as well as topics and modules, necessary resources and materials, practical tasks, and assessment methods. Using these templates helps structure the learning process, improving its organization and enhancing learning effectiveness. Teachers can adapt the templates to their needs, promoting more focused and effective learning.

The "Training Resources" subcategory features task planners and trackers, portfolio and certificate templates, calendars, and other supporting materials. The "School Resources" section offers similar materials, as well as educational resources for use in the classroom, such as plant life cycle infographics and various world maps. These resources will help teachers and students organize the learning process and make it more effective.

Screenshot: Genially / Skillbox Media

This category presents five Subcategories, among which the Interactive images templates deserve special attention. These templates allow you to add interactive elements to static images or GIFs. By interacting with dots on the image, users can get additional information, listen to audio, watch videos, or open other images. Using special templates is not required, as the Genially editor makes it easy to create such elements from scratch.

The Timelines subcategory features templates for creating timelines that allow you to visually display events in sequence. This could include, for example, the biography of a famous person, the stages of development of a scientific theory, or the steps in a school project. Such visual representations are often called timelines. Templates vary in design, allowing you to choose the right one to illustrate any process. Infographics templates are also available, providing ready-made visual materials on a variety of topics that only require your own text. Timelines and infographics, like other materials on the Genially platform, can be enhanced with interactive elements and animations, making them more engaging and informative.

Screenshot: Genially / Skillbox Media

The Diagrams subcategory offers a variety of templates for data visualization. The free plan includes several types of simple charts, such as line, pie, and column charts, as well as infographics. However, the editor offers a wider range of formats. This section features tools that are widely used in product and process management. Among them, you will find templates for SWOT analysis, the Five Whys method, Ishikawa diagrams, and the Effort-Impact matrix. These tools will help you effectively analyze data and make informed decisions.

Interactive cards offer a variety of flip card templates that can be easily flipped. In this section, you will find animated cards and invitations suitable for any event. These cards are perfect for creating unique and memorable greetings or invitations, adding an interactive element to your message.

The section's name may seem counterintuitive, as it contains templates for a variety of purposes. Microsites are universal templates designed for creating resumes, school and university schedules, portfolios, small product catalogs, brand books, and landing pages. Users can choose between standard left-to-right slide navigation or click-to-click navigation on interactive elements, as is done on traditional websites. Furthermore, materials of any format can be combined with different navigation methods, making the templates even more flexible and convenient.

Content of this type can be created using templates from the "Catalogs and Brochures" subcategory. Presentations in this category are longer and structured differently: a special slide is located at the beginning of each presentation, facilitating navigation through the content. Also worth noting is the "Reports" subcategory, which contains templates for corporate reports. These presentations include charts and infographics and offer more space for text and other data than the previous subsections. Using these templates will help you create high-quality, informative content that will be easily digestible by your audience.

These are also presentation templates, but with smoothly animated transitions. They play automatically, without the need to switch slides. In the editor, you can set up similar transitions for any presentation, regardless of the selected template or the uploaded PPTX file.

Only two sections remain in the library: Team Templates, which contains team templates available only with a paid plan, and Blank Creation, which allows you to create content from scratch. Now let's take a closer look at the functionality of the Genially editor, which we use when creating materials from a blank page or editing templates. The editor offers a variety of tools for creating interactive and visually appealing content, allowing you to effectively convey information to your audience.

How to create your own unique material in Genially using the editor's tools

When developing unique content, it is important to first determine its shape and size. Slide resolution and aspect ratio are set manually, but various preset options are also available. This allows you to create the perfect material to suit your needs.

  • Landscape has a 16:9 aspect ratio, standard for modern laptop displays. Therefore, it is best suited for courses and presentations intended for viewing on a widescreen rather than a mobile device.
  • Mobile has a 9:16 aspect ratio, meaning the image is vertically oriented and intended for viewing on a smartphone.
  • Infographics is a format for creating materials that the user scrolls from top to bottom. As the name suggests, the 1:2 aspect ratio is typically suitable for vertical infographics.
  • Square is a square format for layout of flip cards and postcards.
Screenshot: Genially / Skillbox Media

The selected format applies to all pages of the content you create. However, you can change it at any time if you decide that square slides better suit your idea than rectangular ones. The ability to customize the format allows you to tailor the material to your needs, ensuring more effective perception of information by users.

At the bottom of the desktop, next to the «Add page» buttons, the trash can icon for deleting the selected slide, as well as the zoom switches and arrows for navigating between pages, there are three additional icons. The first two of them are «Canvas» (an icon in the form of a rectangle with dots) and «Navigation» (an icon with two rectangles and arrows) — both open the same menu, allowing you to conveniently manage content.

Screenshot: Genially / Skillbox Media

The Canvas tab displays size and aspect ratio settings. The Transitions section is only available if your presentation contains more than one slide. Here, you can customize the transition animations between slides. The Apply to all slides button quickly applies the selected animation to all slides, but you can also create a unique animation for each slide. To customize your settings, select Pages in the sidebar. The platform will display a list of all slides, with a magic wand icon next to each slide. Clicking this icon opens the transition animation menu and customizes the effects you desire.

In the Navigation tab, you can select the user interaction method with the content. In Standard mode, users can navigate slides using arrows, as in any presentation. Video mode allows content to play automatically, without any user interaction. Microsite mode, on the other hand, eliminates navigation arrows on slides, allowing interaction only through interactive links and buttons.

Screenshot: Genially / Skillbox Media
Screenshot: Genially / Skillbox Media

Clicking the palette icon (Document colors), located to the right of the other icons at the bottom of the screen, opens the color scheme settings. The content creator can choose three primary colors for the design of the material, which will be applied to various elements. If you need to change the selected colors, you can do so directly in the menu, and the changes will automatically be reflected in the corresponding elements. It is important to note that the free plan does not allow you to customize the primary colors yourself; you can only choose from 12 preset sets. However, you can still change the colors of most elements as you wish.

Note the "Add Background Audio" button located directly above the slide you are editing. This feature allows you to record an audio file using your device's microphone or upload an audio track via a link. Premium users have the ability to upload audio files directly from their computer. Keep in mind that the selected audio track will play throughout the presentation, which means you cannot use different music for individual slides.

Now that we have explored slide settings, let's turn our attention to the tools available in the Genially editor. All of them are located in the left sidebar. These tools allow you to create interactive and visually appealing content, making your project more dynamic and engaging for your audience.

Genially offers users a pre-configured set of elements, including headings, subheadings, and body text, all harmoniously proportioned. The platform supports both bulleted and numbered lists and offers a variety of heading and subheading combinations in a variety of fonts. However, it's worth noting that Cyrillic support is not available for all fonts.

The font family, size, and color can be changed at any time. Text transparency, shadow, letter and line spacing, and the ability to switch between upper and lower case are also available. These features allow you to adapt the text to specific requirements and improve its visual perception.

Screenshot: Genially / Skillbox Media

Genially offers users a built-in library Images, including both still images and GIFs. If you can't find suitable images or photos on the platform, you can upload your own. Please note that each uploaded file must not exceed 5 MB in size. The image placed on the slide can be easily edited. You can resize it, crop it, make it transparent, or frame it. Additionally, special features available significantly simplify the editing process. For example, the star icon removes the background from the image using artificial intelligence, saving time and effort. The hand icon allows you to drag and drop the image in preview mode, which is useful for tasks and games. Using these tools allows you to improve the appearance of your slides and increase their appeal to your audience.

Screenshot: Genially / Skillbox Media

With this tool, you can enrich Your slides are filled with ready-made icons, geometric shapes, lines and arrows, and vector illustrations featuring characters. You can move these elements during viewing by enabling the option with the hand icon. All elements, except for color illustrations, can be recolored, and you can also adjust their transparency and layer order. This functionality will make your presentations more engaging and informative, helping you better communicate your information to your audience.

This section features tools for creating various charts and diagrams. Selecting any of the available options will open a table where you can enter data. You can add data manually or paste it from another document. Standard table templates are also available, which can be used to place them on a slide. These tools will help you visualize information and make your presentations more visual and informative.

Screenshot: Genially / Skillbox Media

Genially is a powerful tool for creating Interactive presentations. Even the simplest presentation can be transformed into an engaging and interactive project. One interesting interactive element is a pop-up window, which essentially represents a new slide. It opens when you click a button or icon, adding dynamism to the presentation. Genially offers several pop-up templates, each suitable for a specific type of content, including long text, a combination of text and images, YouTube videos, and multi-image galleries. Using these elements makes the presentation more attractive and informative, which contributes to a better perception of information by the audience.

Screenshot: Genially / Skillbox Media

A tooltip is a pop-up window that appears when a user interacts with an interface element, such as clicking a button. This small window on the same slide can display text, an image, a table, or a video. Using tooltips improves the user experience by providing additional information without overloading the main content. They help users better understand the functionality of elements and make the interface more interactive. Optimizing tooltips can significantly increase conversion and user satisfaction.

In the Audio section, you can integrate a soundtrack into the slide, which can be recorded directly in the application or loaded from a link. The sound will play when clicked. Additionally, you can add an image gallery (Gallery), where photos can be switched automatically or manually using arrows. You can also add captions to images for better context.

The Link and Go to page options allow you to add interactive elements to the slide. Clicking the Link element opens an external internet resource, and the Go to page element takes you to the selected slide. These features significantly improve navigation and interaction with content, making the presentation more dynamic and informative. Embedded timers and stopwatches are great for games and training. A virtual dice and coin for throwing are also useful. A randomizer, which displays a random image from a pre-prepared set when clicked, adds an element of surprise. One interesting feature of the randomizer is a treasure chest that opens on click and can contain various items, such as scrolls, potions, or extra "lives" for players. These tools help make the gameplay more engaging and varied. The editor offers a variety of button types that can be used to link interactive elements. Furthermore, any area of the slide can be made interactive by simply selecting it with the mouse using the Interactive area tool. This allows you to create more dynamic and engaging presentations, improving user engagement.

This page features quiz questions, including the four main types available in free templates: multiple choice, true or false, order items, and choose the correct image. Each task can be supplemented with a timer, as well as customized feedback for correct and incorrect answers. Additionally, after completing the task, users can be directed to the appropriate slide based on their selection.

This tool offers a variety of templates for charts, diagrams, tables, timelines, maps, and galleries. These templates are similar to those in the main library, but their standard and minimalist aesthetic makes them suitable for use in a variety of projects, regardless of the topic. This selection of universal templates makes it easier to create visual content that can be adapted to any need.

Some visual elements, such as charts and graphs, can be edited independently. These elements correctly display data from related tables. To edit or add data, select the relevant element, such as a pie chart, by clicking it, and then clicking the pencil icon that appears above the element. After making changes, the data can be combined into a single object. To do this, select the area occupied by the elements with your mouse and click the icon with the connected dots. After combining, the elements will be perceived as a single object, which will simplify their movement and further editing.

Screenshot: Genially / Skillbox Media
Screenshot: Genially / Skillbox Media

The tool allows you to add a variety of media content to a web page, including audio, video, images, and external resources via a link. Videos can be uploaded from Google Drive or added via a link. Audio on the free plan is only available for recording via a microphone or uploading via a link. Supported third-party resources include virtually any content from Google services, such as maps, docs, tables, and forms, as well as PDFs. Using this tool simplifies the creation of interactive and informative content on your website.

Genially allows you to customize both the slide space (Canvas) and the background on which it is placed (Base). For example, in the screenshot shown, the canvas is dark blue, while the slide itself is white. The color or background image of the slides can be uniform for all elements or customized for each. The canvas of the document remains unchanged and is displayed depending on the area of the user's screen occupied by the material. For example, if a square card is used, the canvas will be visible beyond its borders on both computers and smartphones. In the case of a vertically oriented page, the canvas will appear at the edges only on a computer, while on a smartphone, the page will occupy the entire screen.

This functionality allows you to create unique and engaging presentations, taking into account the features of different devices and user preferences.

Screenshot: Genially / Skillbox Media

You can customize the background color of your slides and the main area, choose an image from the built-in library, or upload your own. Customizing the background allows you to create a unique visual style and enhance the perception of your content.

How to Add Animation to Slides

Genially offers a variety of options for creating interactive content, and one of its most appealing features is its animation customization. You can add animation to any element on the page simply by clicking on it and selecting the comet icon. This allows you to make your project more dynamic and engaging for users. If you plan to animate an object consisting of multiple elements, such as a timeline or chart, combine them first to ensure a cohesive animation. Using animations in Genially not only improves visual perception but also increases audience engagement.

Screenshot: Genially / Skillbox Media
Screenshot: Genially / Skillbox Media

By clicking the comet icon, you will access the animation menu. It is important to first select the animation type, as it depends on the conditions in which it will be played. Choosing the right animation type will help you seamlessly integrate it into your project and create the desired effect. Consider the context of use to ensure your animation is not only attractive but also functional.

  • Automatic — This type of animation plays regardless of user interaction. You can animate an object's appearance on the slide (Entrance) and its disappearance (Exit), or add continuous motion (Continuous). Each of these subtypes has its own set of animations. For example, when appearing, an object falls from above or gradually appears; when disappearing, it rolls off the screen or blurs until invisible. And if continuous motion is selected, it can sway like on waves or pulse. The start time in seconds and animation speed are configurable for appearance and disappearance.
  • Interactive — This type of animation starts when the user hovers over the object (Hover Mouse) or clicks it (Click). Accordingly, it makes sense to add such animation to interactive elements to hint to the user which objects they can interact with. For example, an image that needs to be moved could shake when hovered over with the mouse, and a button that opens a hint in a game could pulse.

All effects and their combinations are displayed in real time on the object, allowing you to "try on" various options in the editor and choose the most suitable one without having to switch to preview mode. This significantly simplifies the selection and customization process, allowing users to work with visual elements more effectively.

How to share finished material

After completing work on the material, it is important to save the latest changes, even if Genially periodically does this automatically. To save, click the cloud icon in the upper left corner of the screen. Once the ellipsis is replaced by a checkmark, the saving process is complete.

It's important to ensure that your content is viewed by users. To do this, use the preview mode. It's accessible by clicking the eye icon in the upper right corner, next to your avatar. In this mode, you can evaluate how your content appears on various devices, including large screens and mobile phones. This will help you ensure that your content is user-friendly and readable for all users, which, in turn, can positively impact its perception and SEO rankings.

If you're satisfied with everything, it's time to publish your content. At the top, next to the document title field, there's a pencil icon with the words "Draft." This indicates that this content is visible only to you. Publishing will allow your content to become accessible to a wider audience, which can increase its reach and attract new readers.

Screenshot: Genially / Skillbox Media

When After clicking the Draft button, select Public from the menu to access the publishing menu. The Display tab offers various display options.

  • Share genially allows everyone to share your content on social networks and embed it in their blogs and websites.
  • Full screen enables full-screen mode, in which the content adapts to the width and height of the user's screen.
  • Interactivity indicator adds thumb icons to all clickable elements, just like in Genially itself when previewing templates.
  • Zoom — enables the ability to enlarge content while viewing.
  • Draggable elements indicator — adds hand icons to all draggable objects.
  • Paint on genially — allows users to draw on pages of content, choosing the color and line thickness. Changes will not be saved in the material itself.

The color of the pop-up windows is available in two options: light or dark.

Screenshot: Genially / Skillbox Media

On the Privacy tab in free mode, there is only one main option available: making the material public. Choosing this option will assign a permanent URL to your content, allowing users to easily find it through search engines. Making the material public ensures its visibility and accessibility to a wide audience, which can increase its popularity and increase the number of views.

By enabling the Reusable option, you allow other users to use your material as a template for creating their own content. This simplifies the process of working with information and promotes the exchange of ideas between participants. This approach increases efficiency and creativity, allowing everyone to adapt existing work to their needs.

On this tab, you have the opportunity to specify a title for the material (Title), if this has not already been done. You can also add a short description (Description). This will help improve the SEO of your content and make it more attractive to users. Correctly filling out these fields contributes to better indexing in search engines and increases the visibility of your material.

Screenshot: Genially / Skillbox Media

The Activity tab is not available on the free version tariff, as it contains analytics settings for tracking user interactions with content.

Click the «All set» button, and Genially will offer to open your presentation material in a new window by selecting the «Present» option, or share it with other users via the «Share» function.

Screenshot: Genially / Skillbox Media

There are several main options, among which the following stand out:

  • Link provides a direct link to view content on the Genially website.
  • Insert helps embed material in a blog, website, or LMS. There are two types of code for this. Iframe is the most common option, which works in most browsers. All content, including pop-ups, will be contained within the boundaries of the embedded material. Script works a little differently, and, as the creators explain, some elements may extend beyond the document. They themselves recommend using Iframe.

There is a "Social Networks" feature that allows you to automatically publish materials as posts on social media platforms. There is also an "Other" option, which allows you to share documents with students via Google Classroom or with colleagues in Microsoft Teams. However, for users in Russia, these options may be less relevant.

The Download feature is available exclusively to premium users. It allows you to save content in various formats, including PDF for easy printing, HTML documents, and images and videos for offline viewing.
