This year, we intend to complete the program connecting schools to high-speed fiber-optic internet. Two years ago, half of the schools did not have access to high-speed internet, but by the end of this year, all educational institutions included in the program will be connected. This will significantly improve the quality of the educational process and expand access to modern resources.
The Deputy Prime Minister made these remarks at a meeting of the Council for Strategic Development and National Projects.

Context
The federal project "Digital Educational Environment", launched in 2019 as part of the national project "Education", is aimed at providing all educational institutions in Russia with internet access. This project provides for connecting schools, colleges, and universities to the network with a minimum speed of 100 Mbps for urban educational organizations and 50 Mbps for rural ones. This initiative seeks to modernize the educational process and create conditions for the introduction of digital technologies in education.
It soon became clear that simply connecting the school to the internet was not sufficient. It was necessary to organize internet distribution within the building, install Wi-Fi hotspots, and install CCTV cameras to ensure the full use of the internet as a service. These were the words of Deputy Minister of Digital Development, Yevgeny Kislyakov, in February of this year.
He announced that more than 700,000 modern and technologically equipped workstations for teachers would be created by the end of 2024. This project is part of the national program "Digital Economy," aimed at improving educational infrastructure and integrating digital technologies into the educational process.
Since December 2020, the term "digital educational environment" has been used as part of an experiment that will last until the end of 2022 and is taking place in various constituent entities of the Russian Federation, in specially selected schools. In May, a draft digital school standard was presented, outlining the technical requirements for educational institutions participating in this experiment. The goal of this project is to create modern learning environments that will improve the quality of the educational process and introduce innovative technologies into school education.
The Russian Ministry of Education recently presented a strategy document for the "Digital Transformation of Education," which covers plans through 2030 and targets all Russian schools, not just experimental ones. The strategy includes the launch of various digital services for school education, the effective use of which requires a stable internet connection. These services include a "Digital Educational Content Library," digital assistants for students, teachers, and parents, and a "Digital Student Portfolio." There are also plans to implement a digital management system in educational institutions, which will enable the transition to paperless document management technologies by 2024. These initiatives are aimed at improving the quality of education and creating modern conditions for learning.
Skillbox Media will provide more detailed information about this strategy soon.
