Alpina Non-Fiction has released the book "100 Art Manifestos. From Futurists to Stuckists," compiled by Alex Danchev. This publication includes the ideas of such outstanding artists as Mayakovsky, Dalí, Marinetti, Rodchenko, Murakami, Loy, Malevich, Gropius, and many others. A chapter dedicated to Giacomo Balla's manifesto is included, allowing for a deeper understanding of the ideas and concepts that have shaped contemporary art. Giacomo Balla (1871–1958) was one of the older and more experienced Futurist artists, serving as an informal father figure to his colleagues. Wyndham Lewis noted that he was the best of them. The artists Boccioni and Severini studied under him before they joined Futurism, when Balla worked in a Divisionist style, adapting it to his vision. Interestingly, Balla may have had more socialist views compared to other Futurists. Although he signed manifestos, in the early days of the movement his involvement with Futurism was more of a curiosity than a full-fledged commitment. He later commented on his participation with irony: "Little by little, his acquaintances disappeared, the same happened with his income, and the public considered him crazy. At home, his mother prayed to the Madonna for help, his wife fell into despair, the children were confused... but without further ado, he put all his passéist works up for auction, writing on a sign between two black crosses: 'WORKS OF THE LATE BALLA FOR SALE.'" This episode highlights not only the artist's complex relationship with society, but also his resilience in art, which continued to be his passion even in difficult times.

With the outbreak of war, Balla experienced turmoil. The humorous "Futurist Manifesto for Men's Clothing" was followed by the unsuccessful "Futurist Manifesto for Anti-Neutral Clothing" (1914), which asserted that "Futurist shoes will be dynamic, varied in shape and color, and ready to give all neutralists a kick in the pants." Also on display was the monumental work "Futurist Reconstruction of the Universe" (1915), created in collaboration with the young Fortunato Depero (1892–1960), creator of the Cabaret del Diavolo in Rome. Balla's art developed in the same direction. Although he could still create something original, as in the sets for Stravinsky's "Firebird" (1917), he began to decorate everything with bright and often tasteless colors. Ultimately, his work was limited to the creation of "Futurist Flowers," which were sometimes angular and spiky, sometimes massive and lush. Until the end of his life, his eldest daughters, Lucie and Elika, whose names mean "light" and "propeller," preserved the Futurist atmosphere in the artist's Roman residence.

During the short breaks in our struggle for renewal, we Futurists discussed many topics. We have long believed that modern clothing, despite its modern simplification, remains woefully outdated. We must rid society of passéist clothing and anything associated with gloom. Faceless, funereal, and boring materials must be abandoned. It is important to prohibit the use of dull, somber, and neutral colors, as well as patterns such as stripes, checks, and spots. Static lines and uniform elements such as cuffs and slits should be eliminated from clothing design and cut. We must end the humiliating custom of mourning, which creates a depressing atmosphere on the streets, in theaters, and cafes. Clothing should reflect joyful and energetic moods, not the dull experiences of passéists. We must create futuristic clothing that is joyful, bold, and vibrant. Its design should incorporate dynamic lines and simple shapes. It's important for such clothing to be short-lived, which would encourage constant renewal of collections and provide our bodies with new pleasures and sensations.

Use materials with rich and vibrant colors, such as bright red, deep purple, vibrant green, bright yellow, orange, and scarlet. These colors should be complemented by basic shades of white, gray, and black. It's important to create a dynamic cut that will help express these colors in vibrant and dynamic shapes, such as triangles, cones, spirals, ellipses, and circles. This will achieve harmony between color and shape, creating visually appealing and memorable compositions.

The cut of clothing should combine dynamic and asymmetrical lines. The left sleeve and left side of the jacket should have rounded shapes, while the right elements should be square.
