Dragon's Dogma 2 offers players a unique experience that fully utilizes the game world's capabilities. The game's main goal is not only to save the world from the dragon but also to understand the underlying mechanics of the world itself. The gameplay is highly challenging and at times reminiscent of Dark Souls, making it a true test for players. Numerous challenges and opportunities to overcome difficulties add to the game's engaging and deep nature. Dragon’s Dogma 2 will be a true challenge for fans of complex RPGs.

The goal may seem banal, like in fairy tales. But it is not so. Dragon’s Dogma 2 mocks this popular motif by introducing a true ending. We won't spoil it—it's better to see for yourself. Screenshot: Dragon's Dogma 2 / Capcom

The game's physics-based combat system makes every battle unique. All actions in combat are governed by the laws of physics, adding realism and dynamism. Thanks to the diverse behavior patterns of monsters, players are faced with a variety of ways to destroy them. Enemies can throw you from heights, attack from the air, trample you, hurl you into rocks, or carry you into their jaws, like wolves. Crowd attacks are also possible, adding an element of strategy and the need to adapt to the situation.

You have a variety of ways to deal with any enemy, even the most powerful. Each class offers unique abilities, but the laws of physics remain the same for all. Ultimately, you can always try to grab an enemy and throw them off a cliff if you can lift them. Use your skills and the environment to prevail in combat.

Most large monsters have weak points that can be exploited in combat, especially if you follow a similar approach to Shadow of the Colossus. Keep in mind, however, that such attacks cost stamina, and the monsters themselves will try to throw you off. If there are nearby cliffs, this can be a great opportunity to climb them and land a drop on your enemy. But what to do in open space?

Sometimes the game dumps several giants on you at once, and this is always a difficult task. These guys are also armored. Screenshot: Dragon's Dogma 2 / Capcom

The protagonist actively uses the services of mercenaries, who can be called pawns. Despite their temporary nature, they are perceived as true friends, ready to help in any difficult situation. Even if they fall from a height, these pawns can save the player. In addition, they are linked to exciting online functions: pawns move between players, receive tasks and gifts, and can also receive likes. If a pawn has already completed a quest with another owner, it will be able to point you in the right direction, which makes interaction with them even more valuable and interesting.

Pawns constantly interact with each other, sharing observations and interesting events from the world around them. Sometimes this communication can be tedious, especially when it comes to ladders. Nevertheless, they support each other and sincerely admire the hero's successes. It's surprising how much we begin to empathize with them, because changes in their lives can be painful.

The open world, although limited to wide paths between cliffs, offers many interesting optional locations. It's worth deviating from the main routes not only to search for chests, of which there are plenty in the game, some of which are well hidden. Players risk missing entire story areas, such as the elven settlement. In the first major town, you can meet an elf who will offer a quest related to this village, but it's also easy to miss. However, to interact with the elves, you must not only find them but also know the elven language, otherwise communication will fail. Exploring the open world and paying close attention to detail will greatly enrich your gaming experience and allow you to uncover all the secrets and possibilities it offers.

The game features a vast number of caves and minibosses, each offering unique adventures and interesting discoveries. The monsters in these locations actively interact with each other, creating a dynamic and vibrant ecosystem. For example, you might encounter a drake, one of the most dangerous creatures, when it is simultaneously attacked by goblins. In the midst of battle, a griffin may join them, adding an element of surprise and variety to the gameplay. These interactions not only make the game more engaging but also create unique, memorable scenarios.

Teleportation between locations is not a standard mechanic in this game, which sets it apart from modern projects. To move, you need a special stone, which must be found. In addition, the map has a limited number of teleportation points, so players will most often have to travel on foot. Carts travel between cities, but you may encounter monsters such as griffins along the way. This movement system adds an element of strategy and adventure to the gameplay.

The game world creates a sense of vastness, and every journey within it becomes a real adventure. This game will especially appeal to lovers of hiking and the spirit of exploration. It is important not to forget to take a camp kit with you, as night journeys can be not only difficult but also dangerous. Additionally, it's worth considering that your tent and wagon can be damaged by monsters, adding a strategic element to your expedition planning.

Dragon's Dogma 2 offers a variety of engaging mechanics that make the game truly unique. The most notable feature is its outstanding system design. This game features a vast number of gameplay mechanics that interact harmoniously with one another. Exploring all aspects of the game takes a significant amount of time, and even after that, it continues to surprise players with its possibilities and new discoveries.

And, besides everything else, the locations in the game are very beautiful and rich - even the optional ones. Screenshot: Dragon's Dogma 2 game / Capcom

The game features many undocumented features, such as pawn disease, which was widely discussed by journalists and players immediately after release. Inexperienced players may encounter a situation where pawns warn of the presence of a disease among them, but the game does not provide clear instructions on how to deal with it. Failure to pay attention to the pawn's condition and replace it in time can lead to unpleasant consequences.

One of the caves is home to the Gorgon Medusa, whose head can become a powerful weapon capable of turning enemies to stone. However, in my case, this is only mentioned in passing thanks to one of the characters. Encountering this monster is optional, and the player can easily bypass the cave, as the game has many similar locations. It should also be noted that if the head remains in the inventory for too long, it can deteriorate.

In Dragon's Dogma 2, there is always room for experimentation. The prince reports that his mother refuses to leave the castle. What should he do in this situation? After talking to her, it becomes clear that she truly doesn't want to leave. But what if he simply carried her to the prince on his shoulders? This example demonstrates how game mechanics can work unexpectedly in unusual situations, opening up new approaches and possibilities in the game. Experiment and find unconventional solutions to maximize your gaming experience in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 has two shortcomings that prevent it from achieving a higher position in our ranking. First, the plot is rather nominal, and its presentation is primitive. While the game doesn't emphasize narrative, its implementation could have been better, increasing players' motivation to explore the world and interact with its characters. However, one significant plot twist can partially compensate for these shortcomings.

After completing the main storyline, the game begins to lose its appeal, especially in terms of gameplay. Upon reaching the true ending, the player faces constant action in gloomy locations, where waves of enemies descend upon them. Furthermore, the save system becomes less flexible, leading to problems. If the player finds themselves in a difficult situation, such as being dragged along by a "locomotive" of enemies, and dies, they risk losing a significant amount of progress, being forced back into the game. This creates an artificial difficulty that doesn't add enjoyment to the game, but only causes frustration.

Despite its shortcomings, Dragon's Dogma 2 offers a unique sense of true adventure that can make many games with more complex plots envious. This game draws the player into an immersive world filled with discoveries and challenges, making every session unforgettable.

At the core of Dragon's Dogma 2 is the constant desire for exploration. Players ask questions: What will happen if I try this? How will the situation change if I turn off the beaten path and enter a new cave? What effect will using an unusual item have? This game provides unique opportunities for experimentation, which makes it truly exciting. Dragon's Dogma 2 constantly surprises players, offering new experiences and discoveries in every corner of the game world.

The game offers many lessons that can be useful in real life. Firstly, it develops strategic thinking. Players are often faced with the need to make decisions under limited time, which helps improve planning and forecasting skills. Secondly, the game teaches teamwork. Many games require teamwork, which helps develop communication and collaboration skills.

Furthermore, games can be an excellent source of motivation. Constant challenges and achievements help build resilience and perseverance. Players learn to cope with failure and use it as an opportunity for growth.

It's also worth noting that game mechanics can help develop creativity. Games often require unconventional approaches to problem solving, which stimulates creative thinking.

Therefore, games are not only entertainment but also a valuable tool for personal and professional development.

Gameplay opportunities should not be limited by strict rules and rigid direction of player actions. It is much more interesting when the player is given the chance to try out different options and explore what happens. Even small details that at first glance do not affect the main process of the game can significantly enrich the gaming experience. When a player is faced with a variety of options, they will be inclined to experiment. Successful experiments bring satisfaction and joy, which makes the game more engaging and memorable.
