Another important event was the active development of esports, which attracted the attention of not only players but also major investors, contributing to its professionalization. Additionally, the trend toward inclusivity and diversity in gaming became more noticeable, allowing developers to create content reflecting a wide range of cultures and identities.
Also worth noting are significant acquisitions and mergers of major companies in the industry, which have changed the competitive landscape and opened up new opportunities for developers. IT companies have fully adapted to remote work, and the traditional office format has become a thing of the past. Metaverses play an important role in children's lives, facilitating their interaction and socialization through platforms such as Roblox, Minecraft, and Fortnite. Instead of the usual children's games during recess, the game "Red Light - Green Light" from the TV series "The Squid Games" is now popular. At the same time, streaming platforms are actively developing content for gamers, as demonstrated by the successful project "Arkane."
Work in game development has become extremely popular, and developers are now perceived as key characters in films, similar to the heroes of "The Protagonist" and the new "Matrix," where Neo plays a game designer. Delivery people, in turn, have become true heroes of our time, reminiscent of the events in Death Stranding. Celebrating various events online has become commonplace: last year, we celebrated birthdays on Zoom and hosted parties with DJs on SpatialChat. Thus, virtual reality is increasingly permeating our everyday lives, creating new opportunities for communication and interaction. Messengers are actively infiltrating the gaming space, creating communities on platforms like Discord. Games based on non-fungible tokens (NFTs) offer unique earning opportunities. One notable example is CryptoKitties, where users can collect, breed, and sell virtual cats. Each cat is a unique NFT, making them valuable to collectors.
Axie Infinity is another successful project where players can earn money by battling other players and completing various tasks. Players can acquire, develop, and sell their creatures, called Axies, which are also NFTs. The success of this game is due to its playability and the possibility of earning real-world income.
Gods Unchained offers players the opportunity to earn money by selling the cards they use in their strategies. Each card is an NFT, allowing players to own them and trade them on open markets. This creates demand for rare and powerful cards, increasing their value.
Earning NFTs in games is becoming increasingly popular thanks to the growing interest in digital assets and blockchain technology. Players can not only enjoy the gameplay but also turn their skills and time into real income.

I was surprised that it wasn't the game itself that caught my attention, but rather the tech demo of The Matrix Awakens, developed in Unreal Engine 5. This tactile experience of next-generation graphics combined with simple shooting gallery mechanics is intriguing. At first glance, this isn't unusual, as tech demos have always been known for such characteristics. However, in the 21st century, it's worth considering that real breakthroughs are created not only by technology, but also by creators whose talents are coveted by major studios. As a result, we're witnessing a race for talent, with creative individuals becoming a key resource.
