Learn: The Profession of Game Designer from Scratch to PRO
Learn MoreThere are many inspiring stories about people who were fascinated by video games from childhood and later became their creators. A prime example is Shigeru Miyamoto, one of Nintendo's most renowned designers and the creator of iconic series like Mario and Zelda. In his youth, he was fascinated by text-based RPGs and the arcade game Space Invaders. These games not only inspired him to create the legendary The Legend of Zelda series but also formed the basis for the unique gameplay of Super Mario Bros. The stories of such developers highlight how a passion for video games can lead to the creation of masterpieces in the gaming industry.
The creators of modern AAA games are also avid gamers. They often express their affection for Soulslike games. For example, Victor Bokan, lead designer of Kingdom Come: Deliverance, and Greg Street, vice president of Riot Games, admire the Dark Souls series, while Masachika Kawata, producer of the Resident Evil series, names Bloodborne as his favorite game. This demonstrates the influence of Soulslike games on developers and their creative process.
We interviewed artists, game designers, and writers to find out what games they enjoy and what they're currently playing. The responses were diverse, which makes them particularly valuable. Each essay represents personal experience and unique knowledge that the developers are eager to share. Furthermore, this material will teach you about unusual and interesting games, as well as give you the opportunity to revisit those you've been meaning to play. The texts are filled with insights and recommendations that can expand your understanding of the world of video games.

Concept artist Limbheim Studio, working on the Diablo 4 project, makes a significant contribution to the creation The game's unique visual style. His work reflects the dark atmosphere and detailed world that has become characteristic of the series. Limbheim Studio places special emphasis on the development of characters, environments, and artifacts, helping to immerse players in the captivating and dangerous world of Sanctuary. Each piece of art conveys not only aesthetics but also a story, making the game more engaging. Limbheim Studio's creative approach to concept art highlights the importance of visuals in modern video games. I don't focus on genres, preferring to play a wide variety of games. In terms of preferences, I'm most often drawn to action RPGs, RTS, and some JRPGs. I try to keep up with the latest developments in the gaming industry, but rarely do new releases prove truly interesting. Most modern games sometimes seem boring, and lack of time also contributes to this. My tastes in games are quite specific, which also influences my choices.
I recently completed Final Fantasy 16 and Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen. Despite criticism of the new Final Fantasy, perhaps due to the large number of cutscenes, I believe the game retains the spirit of the previous games in the series. The combat system is impressive, and the story and character interactions are engaging. I recommend all fans of the genre to check out these games.

Dragon's Dogma may seem boring at first glance, but its combat system and epic monster battles, including the final boss, are stunning. Combat in the game deviates from the traditional approach of using mana and stamina for spells and abilities. Particularly interesting is the "pawn" system, which allows you to create and invite helpers from other worlds, where they were developed by other players. This mechanic adds uniqueness and depth to the adventure, making each battle more exciting.
It's hard to find games that truly impress lately. Among recent releases that left a lasting impression on me, Death Stranding and Returnal stand out. Despite the criticism that Kojima's new IP has received, this game is distinguished by its originality, a fascinating story, and memorable characters. The visuals of the project are also of a high standard. After finishing the game, I immediately bought the artbook, and I don't regret that choice. I recommend Death Stranding to anyone who appreciates unique gaming experiences.
Returnal attracted me with its visuals, unique setting, immersive gameplay, and indirect storytelling. I've always appreciated such narrative approaches in FromSoftware games. I also admire the styles of Zdzisław Beksiński and Giger, whose artistic elements are seamlessly combined in Returnal's grotesque environments. Gameplay became a key aspect of the project, fully consistent with the high level of visual execution.
Projects like Returnal inspire me to think deeply. I prefer not to create fan art for games I've played, but rather to convey my "thoughts on the topic." Although I don't publish these reflections, they help me process the emotions I received from the game. These emotions become a source of inspiration and motivation for further work.

A small list The most popular games and game series are as follows:
- Death Stranding,
- Nier series,
- Metal Gear series,
- Bloodborne,
- Sekiro,
- Deus Ex series,
- Soma.
Each title holds a unique place in my heart, and for different reasons.
Among the announced games, I am looking forward to Death Stranding 2 and Pragmata. Although much information about Pragmata has not yet been released, except for a concept teaser and a short apologetic trailer, interest in the project remains. Death Stranding 2 is especially exciting given the success of the first part and its unique approach to gameplay. Both projects promise to offer players an exciting experience and new ideas in the world of video games.

Game designer and CEO of Konfa Games, known for Despot's Game and Slime 3k. In my work, I focus on creating unique game mechanics and engaging gameplay. My goal is to create innovative games that capture players' attention and leave unforgettable impressions. Drawing on my experience and knowledge in game design, I strive to develop the industry and offer users high-quality content.
I develop games that reflect my own gaming experience. I am fortunate to be able to create projects similar to those I enjoy playing. This creates a unique connection between the development process and gameplay, allowing me to better understand player needs and create high-quality products.
My library contains 620 games, and most of them are indie projects with relatively small budgets. I especially appreciate unusual game mechanics, as it is the ingenuity of game designers that excites me most. While I'm interested in playing Baldur's Gate 3, I recognize that it's more of a premium product built on tried-and-true concepts than a groundbreaking title. In single-player games, I prefer the roguelike approach, which features permadeath and world generation, making the experience more engaging than static locations and traditional saves. However, despite my interest in the genre, there are currently no high-budget roguelikes on the market, aside from games like Returnal and Deathloop. I don't quite understand the argument that gamers are tired of roguelikes. What's commonly referred to as a roguelike today isn't a fully-fledged genre. It's more of an alternative system that helps shape the gaming experience at the most basic level. It defines how progression occurs in the game, making each session unique and unpredictable. Roguelikes offer players new challenges and opportunities, which in turn enriches the gameplay.
The long-standing save system in games influences the perception of gameplay and reduces the level of challenge. I can't ignore the fact that I saved my progress just five minutes ago. This means that the current attempt only takes five minutes of my time. If I fail, I simply return to the same section with a new experience. The low cost of failure reduces excitement and tension. In multiplayer games and roguelikes, loss is not associated with the time spent, but with a specific game session. Even if I manage to win in the future, it is impossible to replay a specific situation. Losing becomes real and permanent, which adds depth and emotional weight to the gameplay.

Roguelikes make up about a third of my gaming library. I enjoy both popular games like Binding of Isaac and FTL, which are Konfa Games' flagship titles, and lesser-known titles. I recommend checking out Golden Krone Hotel and March of the Living, which I've played over 30 hours, even though they're not as widely known. I've also spent countless hours playing roguelikes with between 1,000 and 10,000 reviews. These games aren't exactly worldwide hits, but they're not exactly failures either.
A recent game I've delved into is Cultist Simulator. It offers engaging mechanics and interesting gameplay choices. However, I'm not entirely comfortable with games that require note-taking or writing. Still, I spent three hours playing the game and was able to achieve one of the possible good endings. Cultist Simulator draws attention with its unique atmosphere and deep storyline, making it an interesting choice for fans of card simulators and unusual gaming experiences.
If you're looking for interesting game mechanics, Winter Falling is worth checking out. In my opinion, this game is a brilliant and underrated project that can safely be called a hidden gem, with an impressive 93% positive reviews. Imagine if this game had roguelike elements, including extensive leveling and amazing world generation. This could be the basis for a new, exciting gaming experience.

I actively play games that serve as references for our projects. While creating Despot's Game, I studied all the roguelikes with auto chess elements, and although there are few such games, we are not alone in this genre. I am currently developing Slime 3k and have created a folder on Steam with Vampire Survivors analogs, which contains 23 games. I have also tested about 10 games on a mobile device. Previously, I spent dozens of hours on Crimsonland, and I truly enjoy this genre. I don't just play out of necessity; I play it with great pleasure.
The Neophyte gaming tournament recently took place, and it is worth attending. In our project "Slime", we offer a unique experience, combining survival elements with the auto chess genre. Particularly interesting is the interaction with Hearthstone Battlegrounds, which I have already spent hundreds of hours playing. This allows players not only to enjoy competitive play but also to explore new strategies and tactics in familiar worlds.
In fact, I've spent more time playing multiplayer games than single-player ones. This category includes several types of games that seamlessly transition from one to the other. The first group includes games I play on Fridays with colleagues, such as Barotrauma and Quake Champions. The second category includes various tactical games. My account has the most hours played in Dota 2, although I haven't played the classic version of the game for quite some time. At some point, I became interested in auto chess, and for the past three years, my interest has focused on Custom Hero Chaos. This game offers unique and exciting gameplay that really appeals to me.
Custom games in Dota are a unique launchpad for multiplayer indie games with unusual mechanics and ideas. Interestingly, Dota itself originally originated as a custom game for Warcraft 3. There are also many engaging tactical games in this genre, such as Gremlins, Inc; Antihero; and Demeo. One of my latest discoveries was Your Only Move is Hustle. It's a truly captivating project, albeit with a high barrier to entry. In certain ways, it's reminiscent of Toribash, which makes it even more interesting and unique. Custom games continue to evolve, offering players new opportunities and fresh ideas in the world of multiplayer tactical battles.
Demeo is an interesting project in the world of virtual reality that is attracting the attention of many gamers. I am a big VR enthusiast, having spent over 7,500 hours in Steam VR, but recently my experience has focused on the PlayStation platform. This platform is indeed lacking AAA games, but this is also due to the absence of one of the main problems of modern AAA projects: monotony. The industry needs innovation and diversity to keep players engaged and offer new experiences. Demeo, as one of the brightest representatives of the genre, is able to bring fresh ideas and diversity to the world of virtual entertainment.

Currently, there are no clearly defined rules for game development, and every game includes at least a small experiment. It's interesting to watch the evolution of games, despite their niche nature. Some may believe that there are no worthy games in VR except Half-Life: Alyx and Beat Saber, but this is not true at all. I completed the first game and spent about ten hours in the second, but nothing more. Virtual reality offers many exciting projects worth trying.
I am confident that the future of video games belongs to VR and AR technologies, and this will happen soon. Currently, the industry faces some skepticism, especially from investors. However, devices like the Oculus Quest are gradually increasing their gaming audience, and technology is becoming increasingly lightweight and convenient to use. VR will not replace traditional gaming, just as mobile platforms have not replaced PC gaming. However, in five years, I expect a significant increase in interest in VR games—society will begin to perceive them not as simple attractions, but as full-fledged gaming products, and half of popular games will be created specifically for VR.
I'm aiming to create my own VR game. I have many ideas, but for now I'm being cautious and not rushing into the process. Developing VR games requires a high level of graphics and performance, so unsuccessful experiments often happen without proper preparation. Nevertheless, I am sure that over time I will definitely try to implement my plans in VR.

Finally, we recommend purchasing Despot's Game and adding Slime 3k to your wishlist. These games offer a unique gaming experience and are well worth your attention. Don't miss the opportunity to enjoy exciting gameplay and interesting mechanics.

A writer and screenwriter, author of "And the Gods Shall Hear," published by Kiborg. Her works explore complex themes intertwined with mythology and modernity. Her work attracts the attention of readers and critics, making her a significant figure in the literary world. "And the Gods Shall Hear" is distinguished by its original style and profound characters, which allows it to take its place among the most relevant works of our time.
The phrase "You are what you eat" may be questionable, but I am confident that "Your creativity is what you consume." It is important to remember that to create something new, you need to nourish yourself with a variety of ideas and impressions. Real-life experience is certainly a valuable source of inspiration, but the arts, including games, offer many other tools that can influence our perceptions and emotions. Consuming various forms of art, literature, music, and even games enriches our perceptions and helps develop creativity. Create and be inspired by what surrounds you, and remember that your creativity is shaped by everything you allow into your life.
When starting work on a new game project, I always research existing developments. I pay attention not only to successful or highly rated games, but also to those that have received mixed reviews or even negative ones. Benchmark projects help me find ideas for further development, while unsuccessful games provide a unique opportunity to understand what can be improved and made better. This approach allows me to create higher-quality and more interesting games, drawing on the experience of other developers.
Due to ethical standards and the terms of the confidentiality agreement (NDA), I cannot provide specific details. However, to give you a general idea, I can share a list of my recent games.

I began my journey into the world of video games with the captivating Papers, Please. From the first chords of the soundtrack in the main menu, an overwhelming atmosphere of majestic doom is felt. The unique consequence system, tightly tied to the gameplay, and vivid moral dilemmas captivated me as if I were immersed in this world for the first time. Every choice becomes significant, and every decision affects the fates of the characters, which makes the game not only captivating but also deeply philosophical.
After that, I started playing Griftlands, and for me, this game became a true living puzzle. It embodies the motto: "Yes, this too can be done." It's a roguelike that isn't tied to dungeons, which is surprising in itself. Memorable wordless "dialogues" create a unique atmosphere, and the random plot adds unpredictability. The cartoonish style with high-quality animation makes the game especially appealing. Griftlands is a must-see for anyone who appreciates original approaches in games.
Finally, I tried Cult of the Lamb, another vibrant new entry in the roguelike genre. This stylish and dynamic game offers a fresh take on familiar elements. At first, I found the villagers irritating with their naivety and helplessness, but over time I realized that this was part of their charm. Perhaps the dark prophet really couldn't have had any other attitude towards his followers? Cult of the Lamb captivates with an interesting storyline and original gameplay, making it an excellent choice for fans of the genre.
I've completed my research. Do you think the game I'm putting effort into creating is working? I'm confident of it. After work, my books are always waiting for me, and they, along with games, are an integral part of my inspiration. Crusader Kings 3 remains one of my favorite sources of inspiration. A friend wittily described this game as "The Sims for boys with soldiers," but, in my opinion, this strategy is much better at generating engaging historical plots.

After a six-hour marathon studying the raiders from the Isle of Man, I had an idea for a tragic saga about a mad ruler who tries to keep his empire from collapsing amid vassal wars. The storyline is particularly poignant because he must cope with six sons-heirs, who strive for more power and resources, leaving the seventh without support. An intriguing detail is that three of the children became monks, two members of a holy order, and one had to be rejected. I have already written down a synopsis and outlined several chapters; I hope to continue developing this story on my next vacation, which promises to be exciting and intense.
In conclusion, I want to note the importance of the game for your relaxation and inspiration. Enjoy the process, as this is the key to recharging your batteries and generating new ideas for your work. Play with pleasure, and it will bring you not only joy but also the necessary motivation to achieve your goals.

Their developments stand out for their engaging gameplay and high-quality graphics, attracting a wide audience. Hello! My name is Artem Bagrov, I'm a game designer at Kosmos Games and the author of the "Ochki Operita" (Experience Points) YouTube channel and Telegram channel. My professional career involves developing mobile games, which naturally influences my choice of games for leisure. Game designers in mobile development typically immerse themselves in casual games aimed at a wide audience during the day, and at night they enjoy games that interest them personally, expressing their creativity and exploring new mechanics. Mobile development is not only creative but also a serious business, and I strive to find a balance between these two aspects.
I actively play mobile games, and if I used to consider them a waste of time, my opinion has now changed. Even among shareware projects, you can find very interesting and engaging titles. For example, the Turkish game Royal Match appeals with its simplicity, effectiveness, and ability to capture attention. Another striking example is Marvel Snap, which clearly demonstrates how the collectible card game format is ideal for short five-minute sessions on mobile devices. These games are not only entertaining but can also be a great way to relax at any time.
For me, mobile gaming is, first and foremost, a question of format. The main problem with many mobile games is not that they are available on phones, but their aggressive economic model. Playing on portable devices like phones, tablets, or even Game Boy can be truly convenient and engaging. In this article, I'll share with you some unusual mobile games that I play myself and that I hope will interest you. These games can offer a unique gaming experience and diversify your leisure time on mobile devices.

Games have a unique ability not only to entertain but also to raise awareness of significant contemporary issues. We believe that through gameplay, important social and environmental topics can be conveyed and potential solutions can be suggested.
The importance of information sources in today's world cannot be overstated. Properly selecting and using reliable sources allows you to obtain accurate and up-to-date information. With the growing volume of information, the ability to distinguish authoritative sources from unreliable ones is becoming a key skill. When consulting sources, it is important to consider their reputation, relevance, and the degree of objectivity of the information presented. Using trusted sources contributes to a deeper understanding of topics and issues, which is especially relevant in scientific, educational, and professional fields. Therefore, it's always worth paying attention to the quality of information and its sources to ensure the reliability and validity of your knowledge.
I've long been fascinated by the card game "Citizen - Chief," in which players take on the roles of prisoners, defending their rights in a penal colony. Another interesting project from the studio is "Where Relationships Go," which deeply explores themes of addiction and domestic violence. Thanks to this game, I was able to interest my friend, who previously considered video games a waste of time. The studio has many engaging projects, and, especially important for games of this genre, they are completely free and do not contain in-app purchases. These games are not only entertaining but also raise important social issues, making them relevant and relevant.
One interesting game, ideal for mobile devices, is the indie game "That Level Again." Its concept is simple yet ingenious: the player is presented with just one location that must be completed in various ways. Finding the solution can be challenging, which makes the game engaging and addictive. I enjoy playing That Level Again with my girlfriend since she's better at puzzles than I am.
If you're considering buying a mobile game as a reasonable investment, there are plenty of high-quality titles to consider. Games like Dead Cells, Stardew Valley, Transistor, Gris, and Papers, Please, as well as many other indie hits, are available on mobile platforms. Personally, I recently purchased Papers, Please and plan to replay it on my mobile device. It's a great way to enjoy engaging gaming anytime, anywhere.
If you're looking to play indie hits but don't want to spend money, check out the free port of Vampire Survivors. While I haven't spent 200 hours like Phil Spencer, I still enjoyed the gameplay, completed the main story, and earned numerous achievements. Interestingly, I feel like this game is better suited for mobile devices than for PC or consoles. Its simplicity and dynamism make it ideal for playing on the go.
My inner Batman prefers games that touch the soul and give unforgettable emotions. I'm drawn to cinematic action games and RPGs that offer a gripping story and deep character development. In this regard, the Mass Effect trilogy, The Last of Us, and Fahrenheit have left an indelible mark on me with their unique stories and emotional impact. These games not only entertain but also make you think about important aspects of life, which makes them exceptional in the world of video games.

I recently dived into Kingdom Come: Deliverance, and it's one of the best gaming experiences I've had in years. Although I missed the release, I'm now enjoying the game with a clear mind, uninfluenced by reviews from those who criticized the combat system or found the game boring. I'm simply enjoying the unique world created by the developers with great care and attention to detail. This game offers a deep storyline and a realistic atmosphere, which makes every minute of gameplay exciting.

Gripper, the creator of the horror film ILL, creates unique stories that immerse viewers in a world of fear and tension. His work is distinguished by an original approach to genre and attention to detail, making each film memorable. ILL combines elements of psychological thriller and classic horror, attracting a wide audience of thrill-seekers. Gripper strives to explore deep-seated human fears using masterful screenwriting and directing. Each project he works on becomes a true event in the world of cinema, attracting the attention of both critics and audiences.
There is a significant difference between the games I truly enjoy and the games I use professionally. I often find myself paying attention to projects that I normally wouldn't choose to play. Sometimes I still try them, but I don't experience any particular excitement or enthusiasm.
For me, it's crucial to separate FTUE (First Time User Experience) from analyzing the game's mechanics. When a significant project comes along, like Death Stranding, I prefer to play it first as a player and then study the mechanics in detail, including elements like interactions with materials and water. This approach allows you not only to enjoy the gameplay but also to better understand how the developers implement their ideas.

Twinsen, our dragon is sick, and you're still busy with your treasures. Better take me home.
You continue your walk home under one umbrella, lost in your thoughts. Footsteps echo in the silence, and the rain taps softly on the roof. This is a time to savour each other's closeness and warmth, despite the storm. The journey home becomes a special moment, woven with memories and dreams.
The blue ribbon left by the beloved of Nigel, the hero of the game Landstalker, evokes strong emotions in me. I could almost smell it. The forums claim this object has no practical value. However, I spent a whole day pondering its true role. It is details like these that inspire me to write an essay for my channel "About Game Design in 5 Minutes" on Telegram. Moments like these are what made me fall in love with video games.
Did you know that the final secret in Shadow of Colossus has been discussed by fans for over a decade? It's so long that the remake's developers decided to include it. The desire to overcome the game's limitations, explore colliders, and find something unique within the game becomes a more powerful and genuine motivator than any achievements or bonuses provided by the developers. Players seek not only entertainment but also deeper meaning, which makes their interaction with the game truly captivating.
I enjoy games that allow you to explore vast worlds over long periods of time, not only because of their content, but also because of the emotions they evoke. Achieving this level of immersion requires the experience and attention to detail of the developers: mechanics interact in a coherent system, and details create the feeling of a living world. Every element of the game must be thought out so that the player can fully immerse themselves in the atmosphere and experience unique emotions, discovering new aspects of the gameplay.

Among the current new releases, I am particularly attracted to "Unclear" by sad3d. This work embodies the author's style, striving to reflect and transform reality using cubic graphics in Godot. The work is distinguished by a poorly formalized, non-verbal concept, which makes it even more captivating. I recommend reading one of the authors' thoughts on the Pyaterochka package to better understand the concept and philosophy of the project.

Regarding Russian packages, it can be assumed that they may be manufactured in China. We hope they are affordable and environmentally friendly. Their ease of flight may be due to Chinese technology. The package moves swiftly like a dragon, but at the same time it is Russian – its flight is filled with anxiety, vague melancholy, and a sense of profound education.
To improve search engine visibility, it is important to optimize content. You should focus on keywords that are frequently used by users when searching for information. This will help attract the target audience and increase website traffic.
Quality text should be informative and relevant, providing readers with valuable information. Use headings and subheadings to structure the content for ease of comprehension. It is also important to ensure internal and external linking to improve SEO.
Don't forget about meta tags and image attributes, which also affect search engine rankings. Regularly updating content and using current data will help maintain audience interest and increase trust in your resource.

This is not just entertainment, but a reflection of the genuine values and experiences of those who live this life.
This is a love letter to the streets and their culture. A unique work that cannot be created to order or in accordance with market trends. The Reptile team developed a game that reflects their own lifestyle and passion for urban culture.
I have always openly admitted that my favorite game director is Suda51. If Goichi Suda hadn't created his games before me, I probably would have developed something similar. His creations leave a special impression, and they are very close to me in spirit and style. Suda51's work inspires me and serves as an example of how to create unique and memorable game worlds.
The main aspect of his work, which sets them apart from other offerings on the market, is that they are the most sour games in the world. Not even the most eccentric indie game, such as Sludge Life by Terri Vellmann, can boast such a high level of sourness, surrealism, and schizophrenia. These games create a unique experience for players, immersing them in a world of bright colors and unusual plots, which makes them truly unique.
There is no fourth wall in Suda's works, because it is initially absent. The game consciously demonstrates its awareness that it is a game and directly states its disregard for criticism from players and the press. All the characters in these games are bright and eccentric personalities, which creates an atmosphere of absolute punk and psychedelia.
Goiti's games are distinguished by their cruelty, humor, unexpected plot twists and unique style. These elements create a unique atmosphere that attracts players. Goiti offers game mechanics that break familiar patterns and make you think about your actions. Each project in this series is a true challenge for lovers of extraordinary content.
My last name is Granturizmov, but I'm passionate about Ridge Racer. This iconic arcade racing series from Namco continues to exemplify a unique, futuristic yet cozy aesthetic that can't be found in other media projects. It's hard to describe that special feeling—like you're traveling to space while remaining on Earth. Ridge Racer offers a unique experience, combining exciting gameplay and stylish design, making it indispensable in the world of video games.
For a deep understanding of R4, it's best to read its intro. Visual content allows you to quickly grasp key ideas and features that might be missed in a text description. The R4 intro provides a visual representation of the product's functionality and benefits, making it indispensable for potential users.
Even though this series of games is no longer supported, I continue to return to it periodically. This happens mostly when I'm looking for inspiration or when I feel like I've lost my way. These games remind me how important it is to stay creative and stay connected to what inspires me.
I constantly play one unique mobile game: Smash Legends. It's a true hack and slash, beat 'em up, and brawler all rolled into one, with a diverse cast of characters and thoughtful gameplay mechanics. Smash Legends offers exciting gameplay and is free to play, making it even more appealing to players.
If you're looking for an interesting mobile game (other than DMC), I highly recommend checking out this project. The only drawback is the lack of a storyline, which could significantly enhance the gameplay. The idea for a story for this game comes naturally, and I'd love to work on it. It's also worth noting that the game is also available on Steam, allowing you to enjoy it across multiple platforms.

A writer and narrative designer who creates unique stories and immerses readers in worlds such as "Paradox of Hope" and "DarKnot". My experience includes developing plots, characters, and dialogue that capture attention and engage. I strive to create deep, layered narratives that leave a lasting impression on the audience. My work focuses on ensuring every word serves a purpose, creating an emotional connection between the story and the readers.
I wanted to share my love for Suda51's games, but another author has already done that. Instead, I will talk about other favorite games that left a significant mark on my memory and are associated with many vivid memories. These games not only captivated me with their story and gameplay, but also became an important part of my experience as a player. Each of them is unique in its own way and deserves attention, as they shape not only our perception of entertainment but also influence our worldview.
Soulcalibur is a fighting game series that, despite lacking the mass popularity of Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, or Tekken, has earned its devoted audience. For me, these games have always been top-of-mind, even after countless hours spent playing Tekken and Mortal Kombat. The Soulcalibur series stands out for its unique combat mechanics and diverse character pool, making it appealing to fans of the genre. Each release of the game offers new elements and exciting battles, which contributes to its enduring popularity among fighting game fans.

Childhood memories always evoke nostalgia, especially when it comes to video games. I had a friend with whom I spent time playing Mortal Kombat 4 – it left a lasting impression on us. We also enjoyed lesser-known games like Power Stone, Brave Fencer Musashi, Wu-Tang: Shaolin Style, and Spawn: In The Demon’s Hand. However, it was the first Soulcalibur, known as Soul Edge in Japan, that was a true revelation for us. There was something special about this game that set it apart from other fighting games. This was not only about the use of melee weapons instead of the usual fists, but also about the unique drama of the battles and the original character designs. Soulcalibur offered a new level of gaming experience that still delights fans of the genre.
The third part of Soulcalibur remains our favorite.
Time passed, and my friend had to leave. We continued to communicate through an old and slow messenger, Russian Post. The main topic of our correspondence remained the game Soulcalibur. Around this time, the fourth part had been released, and I shared my impressions of the new additions, changes to character design, and how the impact of the fights had changed. I described all the innovations in detail and admired the guest fighters—Darth Vader and Starkiller from the Star Wars universe. The idea of introducing characters from such well-known franchises into a fighting game was astounding. It's just a shame that Mortal Kombat X and Mortal Kombat 11, which featured such iconic characters as Hellboy, Alien, Predator, and Terminator, hadn't been released yet.

When my friend returned, Soulcalibur 5 was already on the shelves. We decided to go to the store and bought a pirated disc for the Xbox 360, which turned out to be slightly damaged and noisy, causing the drive to work intermittently. However, the game ran. Despite the changes in the character designs and the absence of some heroes, the fifth part of the game still impressed us. It retained the very spirit for which we fell in love with the third part. The new story campaign also surprised us: we did not expect to see a story reminiscent of the early Final Fantasy releases. Soulcalibur 5 successfully combines elements of strategy and action, offering players exciting gameplay and a rich story.
After the conclusion of the series, my friend and I stopped communicating, which coincided with her sabbatical. During this time, I gradually began to forget about both her and Soulcalibur. Our paths diverged, and our friendship faded into the background, giving way to other interests.
In 2018, the sixth installment of the game was released, becoming a true portal to the past for many fans. It evoked memories of evenings spent playing on PS1, PS2, and Dreamcast, borrowing from friends, and then on Xbox 360. The developers brought back beloved characters and some of the old mechanics, while adding an interesting, albeit budget-friendly, story mode. This combination of RPG, fighting game, and visual novel was a step forward for the series, but compared to projects like Injustice 2 and the latest Mortal Kombat releases, the plot of the sixth part looked rather comical.

I continue to play Soul Calibur 6 even after five years. It's especially nice to return to the game after a stressful day at work when I had to write, proofread, and edit a lot. This game is a great way to take a break from word processing and other tedious processes. The nostalgic feel and PS2-style gameplay add a special appeal to the game, making it even more familiar and enjoyable for me. Soul Calibur 6 remains an ideal choice for those looking for quality relaxation and the opportunity to enjoy an exciting gaming process.
For me, "six" has long ceased to be just a game. It has turned into an important ritual, becoming a significant part of my life - a quiet and slightly sad island of tranquility. Many people may experience similar feelings when playing modern games-as-a-service, large-scale MMOs, or “over-powered” projects from Bethesda. These games create a unique atmosphere that allows you to forget about everyday worries and immerse yourself in a world where you can find solace and inspiration.

A concept artist is a key figure in the development of video games like Mortal Shell and Lords of the Fallen. They are responsible for the visual design and creation of a unique art style that defines the look of the game. Concept artists design characters, environments, and objects, which help create the atmosphere and immersion of the gameplay. Their work includes creating sketches, detailed illustrations, and concept art, which serve as the basis for 3D modeling and other stages of development. In projects like Mortal Shell and Lords of the Fallen, concept artists play a vital role in creating memorable images and a visual narrative that contributes to the overall success of the game in the marketplace.
A long time ago, it all started in computer science class. I became friends with the teacher, and instead of going to after-school programs, I preferred to spend time in class. The teacher was quite elderly and needed an active assistant to support him in the learning process. I enjoyed completing his assignments, as it gave me the opportunity not only to learn but also to develop my programming and computer skills.
My main job was to run around the classroom and turn off the computers at the end of classes. The phrase "Now you can turn off the computer's power" is forever imprinted in my mind. During recess, I managed to play a little. We probably got our first proper computer at home in 2004, but in elementary school I played many classic games. Among them were such hits as Doom, Duke Nukem 3D, The Sims, Need for Speed, Blood, Diablo 1 and 2, StarCraft, Warcraft 2, GTA 2, and others. These games not only entertained me, but also became an important part of my childhood, shaping my love of video games and computer technology.

Unfortunately, I missed out on The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind. During my school years, my friends would enthusiastically share their adventures in the world of Tamriel, and I could only listen to their stories. My old computer couldn't even run "Truckers 2," making it impossible to immerse myself in this fascinating world. Morrowind became a landmark RPG, leaving a significant mark on the gaming industry, and I still regret not being able to experience its unique atmosphere and possibilities.
Later, I received a copy of "Heroes of Might and Magic 3" from a friend, but I didn't get hooked on the game for long. My mother, however, was completely immersed in it. The game was so captivating that I had to learn to cook for myself. I understand why she was fascinated: after a day at work, you sit and play solitaire or simple arcade games, and then suddenly "Heroes" is a real culture shock!
In 2007, I also encountered "Stalker madness," although the game turned out to be quite difficult. Together with a friend, we would load a save and go have some tea, since the loading process took about ten minutes, and then the game would freeze for about five more minutes. To avoid ruining my eyesight reading low-quality literature about "Stalker," I didn't need a powerful computer - a phone screen was enough.
I prefer shooters and can talk about my gaming experience in this genre. I was quite good at classic shooters on old computer clubs and dedicated servers, such as Counter-Strike 1.6 and CS:GO, as well as Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Battlefield 2-4. My success in games often depends on my mood: sometimes I manage to show a great result, and sometimes not. Shooters remain my favorite genre in the world of video games.

Professional players typically have a stable K/D/A ratio. However, I rarely participate in competitive games lately. Modern online games, which are easy to learn but difficult to master, coupled with less-than-ideal matchmaking, can cause severe tilt with the slightest misfortune in finding opponents. I'm a fiery person, and while I don't mean to offend anyone, moments like these make people around me uncomfortable. Furthermore, technology, including monitors, mice, and cups, doesn't automatically update, which adds stress to the gameplay.
I've always been interested in games that allow you to build and develop your own worlds. I remember enjoying Fallout 4 immensely, despite the criticism surrounding the building mechanics. I understood the arguments of classic Fallout fans, but creating a post-apocalyptic city in The Sims requires installing numerous mods, which cannot compare to the satisfaction you feel when Preston Garvey thanks you for protecting yet another settlement. Building in games not only develops creativity but also immerses you in a unique atmosphere where every decision matters.
The last building game that captured my attention and consumed 900 hours of my life was Valheim. By spring 2022, I had spent 150 hours in it. This game has an incredibly peaceful atmosphere. In Valheim, players can create not only cozy houses but also majestic palaces and entire cities. The building possibilities in this game are impressive and inspiring, making it a real find for lovers of architectural creativity in the virtual world.
I really love DayZ Standalone. My journey into this game began with a mod for Arma 2. After a brief hiatus, I returned to the game when version 0.30 was released. Since then, about once a year, usually in the fall or winter, I re-immerse myself in the world of Chernarus for a month or two, exploring its forests. For me, DayZ is a unique experience that surpasses many horror games, even though I'm not a big fan of the genre.
When you haven't encountered other people for several days in a row, calmly searching for provisions and weapons, and suddenly you spot a small figure running from afar, the nature of their movements immediately indicating that it's not a zombie, but someone much more dangerous. At such moments, the heart begins to beat faster, and there is a desire to stop.

After nearly three thousand hours of play, the jitters gradually subside, but only if you're the first to spot an enemy from a distance. However, when there are 50 meters between you and your double-barreled shotgun only has a couple of bullets that you've painstakingly obtained over the past few hours, the fear returns, just like on the first day. Maintaining composure requires true self-control, as any rash action can lead to a respawn. In such situations, it's crucial to carefully consider your steps and remain patient to avoid unnecessary losses and make the most of your resources.
I'm a fan of stealth and immersive sims, including games like Deus Ex, Dishonored, Prey (2017), Hitman, Splinter Cell, and the first two Assassin's Creed games with their add-ons. I really enjoy these games and replay them from time to time. The outstanding art direction of Dishonored is especially memorable and will forever hold a special place in my heart. The immersive sim genre offers a unique experience, allowing players to choose different approaches to solving problems and become immersed in the game's atmosphere.
Space games hold a special place in my heart. EVE Online was the first, attracting me with its unique gameplay and deep world development. Elite Dangerous invites players to become space truckers, exploring a carefully simulated Milky Way. Rounding out the list are the Mass Effect trilogy, which immerses players in a gripping story and interactions with diverse alien races, and Astroneer, where players can build and explore new planets, creating their own space adventures. These games are not only entertaining but also allow you to experience the scale of space, making them unforgettable.
Lately, a lack of time and energy has prevented me from immersing myself in the world of games, although the desire to play remains. I especially want to replay Cyberpunk 2077 with its new features and updates. I am also eagerly awaiting Starfield (this text was written before the release). I hope Bethesda doesn't let me down and release the flop of the decade, and overall, I'm confident this game will be fine.
I really want to play Baldur's Gate 3, but based on my experience with Divinity: Original Sin, it's wiser to first focus on saving up for the next six months. It's best to put work aside and prepare to download Larian's game in advance. This will allow you to fully immerse yourself in the gameplay without any unnecessary worries.

While working on Lords of the Fallen, I managed to create concepts for locations, and I tried to hold off on launching the game until its release. However, curiosity sometimes gets the better of me. It's a truly unique experience: although I'm not a QA specialist or a developer, getting access to the game allows me to explore unfinished locations and fight monsters that still have issues with hitboxes.
The developer version of the game includes a "cheat" character with a maximum of 999 in all stats and a unique sword, "Thousand Truths." Without this ability, it would be extremely difficult to complete the game.
Watching the game transform with each new update is extremely exciting. Locations that were previously just a jumble of checkered placeholders begin to fill with detail. First, the basic landscape appears, then various props are added, but it feels like something is still missing. And then, when lighting is introduced, everything changes dramatically. Lighting adds depth and atmosphere to games, making every element more expressive and alive.
I hope cheats and trainers appear for this game soon. I enjoy drawing Soulslike characters, but the gameplay itself doesn't interest me. This genre is not really for me, although the games of the master Hideaki Miyazaki had a significant influence on my development as a game artist.
