This means avoiding mixing carbohydrates, proteins, and fats in a single dish. This approach promotes better digestion and prevents potential digestive problems. Understanding these food characteristics allows you to better tailor your diet to your individual needs and health status.

For people with dominant Vata energy, foods with sweet, sour, and salty tastes are most suitable. People with a Pitta constitution are advised to consume sweet, bitter, and astringent foods, while those with a Kapha constitution are more suited to spicy, bitter, and astringent foods. Consuming incompatible tastes can disrupt the balance of the doshas and lead to various diseases. For example, a person with a Vata constitution who constantly consumes spicy, bitter, and astringent foods can cause accelerated aging and deterioration of health. Is this eating style considered valid?

Modern medicine does not recognize the approach of food combining. This is because scientific research does not confirm the effectiveness of this diet for improving health or losing weight. Food combining is based on the theory that some foods are better absorbed when combined with certain others, but these claims lack sufficient scientific basis. Instead, doctors recommend a varied and balanced diet that provides the body with all the necessary nutrients. Scientific research shows that the key to well-being lies in moderation and variety in the diet, rather than strict food segregation.

  • Food complexity. Most foods already contain proteins, fats, and carbohydrates, so strictly following a separate diet is impossible.
  • Enzymes. Our body produces enzymes to digest all types of food, and they are capable of simultaneously digesting proteins, fats, and carbohydrates. Furthermore, Herbert Shelton suggested that different enzymes produced simultaneously to digest different foods would inhibit each other's action, disrupting their digestion and assimilation. However, research does not support this hypothesis.
  • pH of the environment, that is, an indicator of acidity or alkalinity. In the stomach, it is acidic, in the intestines, it is alkaline. The idea that combining certain foods can disrupt the pH of the environment and the functioning of enzymes is erroneous. The pH of the human digestive tract does not change significantly with the food we consume.

Is it possible to lose weight on a separate diet?
